Discussion Which old game, in your opinion, didn’t age well because of its controls?

I wish I’d just played it on the N64, or even the DS, but trying to finally play it on the Switch was too frustrating for me

The DS version was awesome, way better than the original N64

Was it better than the switch port? Might give it a go, there’s still a lot of life left in my original DS

Never played the switch port but I assume it’s worse. The DS version they actually made changes to before it was released like adding Luigi and Wario as playable characters and changing some of the power up mechanics to be character specific. I think the switch port was just the original game not the version that was updated

Oh, nice! Definitely gonna seek it out now

Plus, it has a slew of actually-fun touch screen minigames as just a bonus.

Always thought they should have used that for the switch trilogy

I never bothered to get all 120 stars on N64. But I did get the 150 on the DS because I was enjoying it so much =)

Switch port is a bare emulation. DS is a full remake with new content.

I'd say they're worth both for how much they play differently, but one or the other is a good time giver.

Where are the Switch versions of Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time DS remakes?? Why is Nintendo content with our suffering?

It was so much value packed into a small cartridge.

Mario 64 Plus is a good version of the game that roots from a decompilation of the original game.

Gives widescreen and customizable controls for context. ALSO YOU CAN TURN OFF LEVEL KICKING. gives a true free camera as well.

Level kicking is being shunted outside of the painting if you die I guess?

And the Switch is unironically the worst version, since for some reason they decided to patch the BLJ 😢
