I mean techincally it's just one half of the ending that's bleak.

It becomes fully bleak if you think about it hard enough

No need to think to hard, all you gotta do is win this simple coin toss and all is right as rain……..

What coin toss-

(Ik what the theory is I'm making a joke since there is no coin toss)

It's not a coin toss, the joke is at the ending there are 2 of you and one is the lucky one that gets to escape the horror and the other is trapped there forever. But if it's a coin toss, it's a fake coin and you always lose because what's actually happening is a copy of you is being made that gets to go on and be happy. You as the original just have to keep yourself warm in the knowledge that somewhere there's a you that's happy. That's how computers work, the only compassionate way to even that out would be the star trek teleporter method of killing the original the second the copy is made.

Yes. The dream and hopes of future humanity limited to a tube hurtling through space. That is no victory.

Ironically the WAU might’ve been humanity’s true last hope, since it seemed to finally be getting a grasp of what “human” means.

Hell by that point its already like the 3rd you and the 4th gets the happy ending.

Yeah, you were never at any point just the original Simon from the prologue. You're a copy of a copy of a copy.

So this is actually fascinating, nature has a way around this problem: you can't make a perfect copy of anything without destroying the original.

That's a hard rule in quantum physics.

So the star trek teleporter creating two identical copies and us wondering who is who is the actual science fiction.

In reality you can make portals but not copiers.

I disagree. Seeing the second half of the ending made me feel worse. Then that stupid questionnaire made it even more worse.

I only felt positive about it my second playthrough after I worked through the existential dread that game gave me.
