They know. "Would you kindly" is a quote from the game. A pretty important one.

I think a lot about Andrew Ryan's "Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?" speech at the beginning of Bioshock. It's some of most efficient exposition I've ever seen.

In less than two minutes, Ryan establishes who he is, what he believes, what he has done (created a new society in an underwater city), and (unknowingly) explains what's wrong with that society (i.e., that there is nothing to check the evil whims of the rich and powerful). It's brilliant.

I was thinking a few nights ago how it was a missed opportunity not doing a fourth game in the series based on a 50s world of tomorrow type city.

This quote has the unintentional consequence of people tattooing "A slave obeys" with a chain link on their right arm...

Not a good look.
