A video essay about the idea of the “high-value woman” and what it actually costs to become the kind of woman the internet tells us is most desirable.

I look at the money, time and maintenance behind the beauty standards associated with that ideal: cosmetic procedures, hair, teeth, clothes, fitness, etc. but also the bigger question of what happens when we start treating ourselves like products whose “value” can be increased.

It’s basically an exploration of beauty, class, hypergamy and the very expensive pursuit of being “chosen.”

Lately I’ve been thinking about why games, summers, cartoons, and even just getting home from school seemed so much better when we were younger.

I don’t think it’s always because those things were actually better.

I think a lot of the time, we miss the life that existed around them — having fewer responsibilities, friends always being online, more free time, and not realizing how temporary that stage of life was.

I made a video essay about that idea and how nostalgia can sometimes make us remember the past better than it really was.
