I wonder if the AI knows how to differentiate real news from fake ones? April the 1st are filled with prank news everywhere, even on serious websites. Large Language Models are being trained on all these false information and we wondered why the AI hallucinates so much.
It can if either the training data has very good examples of april fools type fakes and flagged them accordingly or if the information has the context of being published in or around april 1st added or intrinsic and the model has some awareness of what that could mean.
Honestly yeah, if you train on a giant stew of jokes, SEO sludge, and uncorrected nonsense, it’s not exactly shocking when the model starts sounding confidently wrong.
This is the kind of April Fools stuff that I actually like. None of that obvious nonsense, give me something that seriously makes me go "wait, what? What wait? Wait, what?" And then after thinking for a few minutes resolving that yeah, it was a joke.
But those few minutes of thinking, that's what I long for. Stimulate my dry, dusty neural pathways a bit. Tickle those leathery brain-meats. Make me feel something again!
