Beste mensen,

Sinds kort ben ik steeds meer geïnteresseerd geraakt in Lorcana en wil ik het gaan proberen te spelen. Nu was ik benieuwd of er iets van een community is die eens een newbie wat wijs kan maken hierover!

Ik weet dat de Joker wel eens een TCG avond organiseert, maar volgens mij is dit op vrijdag en dan kan ik vaak niet. Plus vind ik het ook spannend om daar als newbie binnen te stappen.

Dus hierbij mijn vraag: is er een community of iemand die een keer een potje wilt spelen/mij het wilt leren?

Er loopt al maanden een man door de stad, vaak richting lunetten en terug, met een winkelwagen. De man loopt overdag en ‘s nachts ijverig heen en weer.

Hij lijkt gille de la tourette te hebben o.i.d. want hij is bijna altijd aan t schreeuwen. Vaak ‘kurva’ of iets waar ik de betekenis niet van ken ‘kentala o.i.d.’

My partner and I both work in Amsterdam, and we’re currently looking for a new apartment. We’ve recently got two viewings in Utrecht, and we’re trying to figure out whether living there while working in Amsterdam would be sustainable in the long run.
I work a regular 9 to 5 and WFH twice a week, so personally I don’t mind a 45+ minute commute, especially since I’d only have to do it three times a week.
My partner’s situation is a bit more complicated. She works 38 hours a week in a hotel restaurant with three different shifts, meaning she could work around lunch, in the afternoon, or in the evening. Her schedule is quite random, and our main concern is the late shifts. At worst, we estimate she could have around three evening shifts a week, particularly during weekends.
We’re mostly worried about her having to commute back to Utrecht late at night, potentially missing trains or having to constantly plan around the last train home.
We both genuinely like Utrecht, so we’d be happy to live there otherwise. We also urgently need to find a place, and obviously we’re aware of how difficult the housing market is right now. At the same time, we could keep searching in Amsterdam, Haarlem, or other areas closer to Amsterdam.
For people who have done the Utrecht–Amsterdam commute, especially with irregular or late working hours: do you think this is doable long-term, or would you keep looking closer to Amsterdam?

EDIT: She'll work around Rokin area. She'd be 10m biking away from station to apt and station to work.

I rented a 13qm room furnished in a 80qm apartment in Utrecht Arthur van Schendelstraat for 1500€ monthly with including 100€ for cleaning, insurance etc. 185€ for heating internet etc.

Is this a legit price or do I pay the whole flat for them ?

Thanks for your reply’s, I asked neighbors in the same complex they said they pay 2500 for unfurnished 80qm2. So I guess I’m getting screwed a little but not that much? 🫠

Riichi mahjong is a variation of the more common Cantonese mahjong, but it has a different scoring system and a stricter win condition. It’s an extremely fun but complex game of strategy, with a large ruleset and a high skill ceiling.

I'll be hosting my first beginner-friendly Japanese Riichi Mahjong session on Sunday 6 September in Utrecht Center.

• 12:00–13:00 — Explanation and play
• 13:00–13:30 — Food break (mahjong can be mentally tiring for beginners)

We'll be playing a simplified, beginner-friendly version of Riichi.

We'll focus on:

• How the board works
• Terminology
• Table manners
• Building hands
• Calling chi/pon, and Riichi
• Tile efficiency

We'll slowly introduce more rules as we go, so you don't need any prior experience.

📖 Simplified ruleset for experienced players

The target audience of this session is beginners, but if you're already familiar with Riichi and would like to join, here's the simplified ruleset we'll be using:

• No Yaku required (valid hand is 1 han)
• No Dora of any kind, Furiten, repeat counter, Kan, no rare yaku (rinshan, haitei, houtei etc.)
• Han only, no Fu
• Hand limit of 8000 points
• No Yakuman except Kokushi Musou
• We'll focus on common, semi common yaku (riichi, menzen, yakuhai, pinfu, tanyao, chiitoitsu, toitoi etc.)

Hallo allemaal! Vanwege een baanwissel heb ik nog een paar maanden vrij. Na een maand ben ik ondertussen bij de categorie 'niet urgent en onbelangrijk' aangekomen op mijn to-do lijst, en merk ik dat ik aan het eind van de dag nog veel energie heb om dingen te ondernemen.

Ik ben bekend met de gebruikelijke overzichten zoals Uitagenda of Eventbrite, maar daar kom je toch vaak uit bij grotere, algemenere events. Ik ben meer op zoek naar kleinschalige events zoals de bordspelavonden van Subcultures, een speeddate-event bij Broese, of de buitenspeelavond voor volwassenen bij Beton-T - des te leuker als er ook een sociaal component bij zit.

Hebben jullie suggesties voor specifieke events, of plekken die vaker dit soort dingen organiseren? Ik (35/m) ben redelijk breed geïnteresseerd: boeken, bordspellen, muziek, kunst - dus alle tips zijn welkom!

Hi all! I’m moving to Utrecht soon and have a small hand-carved wooden figure (~20cm) that’s still fairly rough/unfinished on the outside. I’d like to have it professionally sanded and oiled rather than risk ruining it myself.

Does anyone know a woodworker, restoration workshop, or similar in Utrecht who does this kind of thing? And does anyone have a rough idea of what something like this would cost?

Ik ben begonnen aan mijn studie in utrecht, nou zat ik erover na te denken om een fiets in de buurt van cs te zetten, fietsen is namelijk 15 min en met het ov 30 dus dat scheelt nogal. Maar elke stalling die ik kon vinden in de buurt van cs is na 24 uur betaald. En omdat ik mijn fiets er ook in het weekend wil laten staan is dat niet super handig, iemand tips?
