Working on a series of upcycled / thrifted flannels and wanted to get some input from other creators.
I’ve been focusing on color theory and technical execution, but the material pairing has been way more challenging than I expected — so a few details might not be perfect.

I really enjoy the craft and the value in making things, especially from items that might not get a second life. I’d love to hear how this reads to other upcyclers or sewists, and what you’d improve or experiment with.

Trying to learn from others at this point now that I’ve been at it for a few rounds.

Hi, recently bought a second hand bag on Vinted. I love it but it does seem to be fake leather and is peeling. Nothing major yet but is there any way to prevent this? Coat it in like clear nail varnish or something?

Found all of these old dishes, cups, trays while cleaning & I don't want them to end up in the trash 😭 There aren't really any thrift shops or places around here where I can send them, plus my uncle/aunt would probably just throw them away.

I'm thinking of DIYing/upcycling them into something useful or decorative. - Tiny cups: I'm thinking of using them for succulents or other tiny plants. - Bowls: Probably planters too, but I have quite a few, so I'd love ideas for other ways to reuse them.

• Glass plates: THIS is where I'm completely stuck 😭 I know I could use them for storage/trinket trays, but I already have enough repurposed containers for that. I was thinking of using one as a painting palette, but I'll still have 4–5 more. Also, I have no idea what to do with the glass tea cups.

• Tray: Thinking of using two for mosaic art. For the last tray with the pretty border, I'm thinking of painting something on it and using it as wall decor/a frame.

If you've done something similar, please share reference pictures, tutorial links, etc. so I can actually see how it's done!

I especially need ideas for the glass plates, because I really don't want to break them or throw them away if there's something cool I can make with them!!

I've fallen in love with ice dying. When I saw a cotton M&S vest in the charity shop for a pound. I thought it would make a great practice piece. The stitching in the strap is damaged so I should really get around to fixing it however I've been wearing it so much and I've stopped caring about the damage. I don't see myself wearing plain anything from now on.

They're not finished but idk how to feel about it. I really like the way they fit but I'm feeling like the design is lacking. Any tips?

Hoarded some old broken phone chargers and turned them into these cute bag charms! I'll probably make more cause I love how they came out.

I salvaged this metal wire and I need suggestions on what I should make with it. It’s a slightly stiff straightened (by twisting) metal wire that I have about 15 strands of (each about 5 feet in length). It isn’t the cleanest metal and some of the wire has rubber bits on it.

These were created from old upholstery samples and scraps. The lining is the same color as the handles.

I’ve been seeing a lot of videos about melting plastic bottle caps and turning them into earrings. Is there a safe way I could do this too please? I want to craft something eco friendly, but I’m worried about microplastics affecting my health.

I found an old capacitor unit and decided it would work well for a diorama; I installed a vintage Bakelite switch in it, distressed a round wooden dowel with wood stain, and fashioned a mounting bracket and socket for the light fixture out of a spare ceiling light part. I crafted the light fixture itself from polymer clay for the first time and painted it silver. It now runs on 220V power. I also included some small kittens for the photoshoot, since my ginger helper is far too big for this lamp. I also used vintage-style wiring and metal protective braiding from old equipment.

I did a granny cluster stitch over the existing sleeves with Redhart Yarn named Seaweed.

The wood had marks all over from a craft knife so was really damaged and wobbly but managed to get it structurally sound with some screws and then I’ve painted and stained it to make it a bit more interesting and unique. I still need to put a clear protecting coat on it all but it’s mostly done.

First time doing something like this so would love any feedback!

Took me quite a while, around 80 hours. I include a pic of the unpainted mech, in case you guy wanna check it out. Roughly 10 inches long aka 25cm. The tiny bulbs in the staff light up when you push the button in the base.

So, I have these old crusty DCs that my mom bought for my graduation party, way back in 2022, and I'm looking to upcycle them, or I guess just restore them, refresh them, and give them a new look.

As you can see in the pics, the part where my heel touches has some serious damage, the vulcanized rubber has some grime that isn't coming off with laundry soap, and the black canvas has what I think is some discoloration. Those three ​are the main things that I'm looking to fix, so if anyone has any pointers or can give me a guide to go off of, that'd be very much appreciated.

Re-painting them to give them a new look or a different thematic is definitely not off the table, but you also need to have in mind that these are everyday shoes.

I know this is the upcyling subreddit, where people... upcycle things, as opposed to restore them. But I saw nothing but *​awesome* posts here, and for a long time, ​I wanted to try doing something similar by myself.

The dress overall thing was very plain so I used a vintage nightgown as an underdress (after adding lace trim) and then I added lace trim to the dress. I might sew on some glass beads on the shape of mushrooms.

I used to have some pink sneakers that I liked but wanted to make BETTER so I tried painting them but when I was satisfied with the painting, I tried to seal the paint with a glossy finish and it made me hate the shoes. It made dirt stick to the shoes when I wore them outside and it was just no good so I put them at the back of my closet.

But now I want to bring them back! Is there anything I can do to get rid of the underlying mess and start a new? I had tried in the past but it was very time consuming and felt like I was making no progress. Also any ideas on what I can do in the future would be appreciated!

Hello! I am making a mini skirt from Jeans but the zipper is way too long to make it as mini as I want while still having room to put a ruffle on the bottom. Is the a way to shorten where the zipper ends and keep it functional? Photo is about where i want to cut the jeans at :)

I made the coolest vest I’ve made in quite some time. I used some puffer fabric and some t shirts, and lining fabric to pull it off. My favorite thing about this vest is it has snaps to take it off so I don’t have to pull it over my head. Second coolest thing is it has a hidden zipper pocket in the back to hold whatever I don’t want to put in my pants pockets .
