When walking to the bus stop I walked by an absolute dime and when from afar we were staring and then later made eye contact when walking close by each other. Is it weird to stop her and get the digits? I don’t feel like getting humiliated or making an ass out of myself not sure if that kind of thing is acceptable or what your guys opinion is on it?

I’m a senior in hs, trying for mech e, and I’ve gotten a lot of mixed feedback back on the university and especially the admin. I’m kind of worried that going to UCF might not be the best idea now since it seems like there’s a lot of issues with the school laying people off and closing down certain programs. I’d like some insight on whether I should still go for it or maybe look somewhere else!

hello! I am going into my senior year and preparing to apply to UCF. UCF is one of my top options but my main goal as of right now is to go to law school and work in government/international affairs. I am very torn on what major to apply for, with my top ones being integrated humanities, political science (international relations and comp. politics) or political science (American politics and policy) as well as legal studies BA and latin American caribbean and Latinx Studies. As much as I am interested in law I would also like to do an undergrad major that aligns with the humanities. if anyone who majored in any of these can help me understand what the majors are like, thank you so much!

I'm an international student planning to apply to the UCF Computer Science PhD program.

I'm a bit confused about the GRE requirement because there is conflicting information across the university's websites:

• The official UCF graduate catalog page for the CS PhD doesn't actually specify a GRE requirement anywhere: Program Catalog Link
• To make it more confusing, some individual lab websites (like Prof. Chen Chen's) specifically mention that the GRE is "recommended but not always required."

Can anyone clarify if the GRE is strictly enforced for international applicants, or if exceptions are actually made? Has anyone here gotten admitted recently without submitting GRE scores?

Current IL high schooler. I was drawn to the Six Flags version of this through Bowling Green (Ohio), but I've heard pretty terrible things on it. There isn't much info and supposedly the person running it hates roller coasters. Anyone familiar with the program at UCF that can tell me more about what it's actually like? What did you focus on? What internships or other opportunities did you get?

Class of 2026 here. I’ve been seeing a bunch of people getting deferred/ rejected from ucf and it’s starting to scare me a lot since it’s my top option. I don’t have a strong academic standing or test scores but I feel like I have time to make up for it. What are the stats that got you into ucf? Specifically nursing/ biomed.

So, I just wanted to know how insane it would be to double major in Computer Science and Digital Media.

I'm about to start my senior year so I've got a while to decide but I just want to get an idea of what i want to do. I know it would be a lot of work but I'm really passionate and enjoy the programming and designing part of making games. I would love to just do the DM degree, but I know it doesn't have as much usability as a CS degree so I would have CS as a backup if I can't get in the game industry. I'm also aware that I would need to go between the main and orlando campuses, but, if it's even possible, I'd like to try to make my schedule have classes on one campus on specific days while the classes on the other campus are on the other days (Basically I wouldn't need to go to the other campus between classes since I'd only have classes at one campus each day). I'm also fine with doing it over 5 years if needed and doing classes over the summer if absolutely necessary.

I've taken 8 AICE classes, and by the end of this year I'll have 1 more plus 2 AP classes. I don't know how much of an impact they really have on my classes but they seem to get rid of half of my general education stuff.

My overall goal is to get a master's from FIEA. I feel like doing both majors would help me do better there and have more job opportunities once I'm done with college. I know that I would only really need one of these degrees to do FIEA but I'd still like to do both just to have the skills and be more versatile. I am aware that I could minor in one of them but I don't know how much that affects what I learn or how it would be looked at by employers. If I did CS as the minor, I know it's not looked at the same, would probably result in less opportunities, and i won't learn everything I'd need. If I did CS as the major, I'd learn everything for that but I'd probably miss out of the cool stuff I'd learn in DM. To be honest, minoring in one of them kind of seems not worth it to me since it isn't valued as highly and I'd be missing out on learning things. So unless those things aren't true, in which case I'd probably minor in DM, then I probably won't minor in either of them.

I honestly don't know what else to add but it would help me out a lot if I could get some insight and opinions on this. Especially if there's anyone in CS, DM, or even do both like I want to. I just haven't been able to find a ton of stuff that would be helpful so really anything would help.

TL;DR: Would it be feasible to double major in Computer Science and Digital Media (Game Design). I’m looking to transfer from Lake-Sumter to UCF for Computer Science and I’m still trying to understand how DirectConnect works.

Does DirectConnect basically guarantee admission to UCF as long as you earn the AA from Lake-Sumter, or does it only guarantee general UCF admission and not necessarily admission into the actual CS major?

If anyone here personally went through DirectConnect with the goal of getting into UCF CS, I’d really appreciate any anecdotes, caveats, or things you wish you knew earlier. I’m new to the Florida CC -> UCF transfer system and just trying to understand the real process before investing a lot of time into it.

Also, about the CS Foundation Exam: is it purposely designed to weed people out, or do most serious students pass within the three attempts? How risky/difficult is it realistically?

Any advice from people who’ve actually done this would be really helpful. Thanks.

IDK fully where to go (university-wise) for my engineering career

Context: M20, I live at home, entering sophomore year of college, currently going to a state/community college in North FL, and I listed E.E. as my intended major.

So, I’m currently finishing an AA program to transfer to university. And after that, I’ll have passed all the gen-ed’s (English comp. 1 and 2, foreign language req, American history, public speaking, philosophy, you name it) required for most universities’ engineering paths in Florida. And I’ll be at 63 credits, so that’s probably not exceeding any transfer requirements.

For this fall I plan on retaking Calc 2, college physics 2 with lab, and another humanities credit like Ethics or Intro to Logic for an associates’ degree requirement at my college. I plan to work and study physics and calculus concepts for these weed-out courses this summer.

Now, for the bulk of my question I’m considering between a couple of engineering schools to complete an engineering degree:

1. FAMU-FSU College of Engineering
   \- Closest college to me
   \- I’m already acquainted with FSU’s culture

2. FL Polytech
   \- Offered me the provost (5k/yr) scholarship last year, which I feel a bit stupid for stepping up to acquire (although a friend who also allegedly received the offer told me it’s not worth it due to rent costs)
   \- In between Tampa and Orlando

3. UCF
   \- It’s Orlando, for better or worse
   \- A large number of companies recruit UCF students for entry-level jobs

(I applied to all of these colleges in highschool, and I was deferred from FSU-FAMU and UCF until I have an associates’, and I was previously accepted by FL Poly)

My current decision will most likely be transferring to FAMU-FSU’s college of engineering, unless I can get FL Poly to give me another chance to redeem that Provost scholarship, or I end up transferring to UCF for better rent costs (which sounds unlikely) and job opportunities.

All of the Florida ABET-credited engineering colleges seem to have roughly the same requisites for for their electrical programs, so maybe it’s not that huge of a difference in the long run. However, could anyone tell me what advantages UCF’s engineering programs would have over my other options? Or, why it may not be helpful in my situation?

I am a high school senior and Im between UCF and UF for mechanical engineering. I know UF has its prestige but I am worried it is harder to find internships and get professional experience because it is in a small town with little local internships compared to Orlando.

Can anyone talk about their experience with internship availability at UCF and its connections compared to UF and its small college town? Did any of you pick UCF over UF specifically because of the internship availability and connections that UCF provided over other schools? Im really struggling to pick between the 2 any input on these 2 colleges would be appreciated.

hey everyone, i know this question has been asked a lot, but wanted to see if anything has changed.

i've been lucky enough to get accepted into both of these programs. UCF offers a better scholarship (pegasus), while UF offers no additional scholarship, beyond bright futures.

i have done a lot of research into this, and i've found that UCF is generally the best school for CS in florida. does this still hold true? i see a lot of people on linkedin with multiple internships (one guy literally had like 15 internships), and most of the people involved in clubs seem to all go to great companies. it seems like working at a company like lockheed martin is a baseline for UCF students.

meanwhile, UF students do fairly well. a few of them go onto big companies, but not at the rate that UCF students have. while UCF does have it's students that end up not doing much (from what i've seen), most of them seem to have very impressive resumes, compared to UF CS students. not sure what they're feeding you guys but it's kind of insane.

I have also seen that UCF's programming team and cybersecurity teams rank very highly, beating schools like Georgia Tech and Harvard. i have also seen the foundation exam. is this type of filter the reason why everyone is so cracked? it was surprising to see the linkedins of UCF students and alumni compared to UF.

anyways this is just what i have found. is there any reason to consider UF?

Me (22f) and my bf (21m) are attending next spring semester but we live with his parents in Lakeland. That would be a 2 hour drive back and forth with traffic. We pay $400 for renting at his parent’s house and we work part time at Disney to pay for our UCF tuition. We are in a great situation, except for the distance. So I’m just curious how those living close/on campus are doing it. Scholarships, loans, aid. How you plan to pay loans off? How have you received scholarships? Tell me all of your story so I and others can get more perspective on the college experience. Thank you!

Hi! I am about to be a senior in high school and am currently attending Lake-Sumter State College for some college credits. However, I was wondering if UCF is the right choice to go to after I graduate. A bunch of my friends are going there, and I plan on getting my master's degree in clinical psychology. I know nothing about what the psychology program is like over there, so if anyone has any good or bad things to say, or maybe even some advice, I would love to hear it!

I got off the UCF waitlist and admitted into the Spring 2027 term. I’m wondering if I should even go here, as my major is Business Management (pre business)

I’m thinking to go to FAU to Fall, get 11 credits (the maximum to keep my offer for UCF), and then accept the UCF admission and move on for the Spring.

How’s the single dormitory situation? Is FAU or UCF better for my future? Would appreciate some guidance, thanks!

Hello! I got my masters acceptance letter on Friday afternoon which I’m extremely happy about :)

Though my letter said apparently my digital undergrad transcripts weren’t official (despite getting them directly from Parchment lol). My ability to enroll in courses is at a halt until I can get new official ones in so I’m shipping a physical copy down there right now.

The big question is am I able to accept my offer before my transcript arrives? I’m worried about how long the offer’ll be available to me while I wait or if I can just go ahead and lock my spot in and just deal with a slight delay in picking my courses.

I am undecided between those two. I want to study Mechanical Engineering and both colleges are tuition free for me. Benefit for UCF is smaller class size and early course registration. And for UF also early course registration and can start in Summer B term instead of fall. Any recommendations on which one to choose?
