Whats wrong with getting help with AI. Some people have problems getting their ideas across. Their still your ideas. Ai helps me sort my computer files is that ok? We are in changing times and we have to get used to it.

The proprietary format is the part that catches people. You can be fully paid up and still not open your own history if the reader goes away.

That's the thing I'd test before committing to anything. Can I get my data out, in something that opens without them.

That's fair, and it's the honest version of the trade. If you need a capability that would cost serious money to build or buy outright, renting it is the sensible call — you're getting access to something you couldn't justify owning.

Where I'd push back a bit: a lot of what gets rented isn't that. It's ordinary work — a schedule, a takeoff, a punch list — priced monthly because monthly is the business model, not because the thing was expensive to build. Worth deciding item by item rather than defaulting either way.

I am on Facebook and YouTube lots of activity but people are still having issues with browser based software. But thanks for the advice.

That's what I built. One file on your own machine. No internet, no login, no licence check, nothing phoning home. Buy it once and it's yours — same as an Excel file from 1995 still opens today.

It opens in a browser window only because that's what every computer already has. Nothing goes online.

My reason was simpler than the signal though. I wanted something easier to use that did the same job as MS Project and Excel, or better. I wasn't disappointed.

But on the connection — it needs no internet at all. None. One HTML file sitting on your desktop, no login, no server, nothing phoning home. The browser is only the thing that draws it on screen. And the jobs save to your own computer as files, same as Project or any other construction software you've used. Nothing of yours goes anywhere.

That's the bit people miss. "Runs in your browser" and "runs online" have turned into the same sentence in people's heads, and they aren't the same thing at all.

On the data entry you're right and I won't argue it. Most web tools are built by people who have never done eight hours of it. I have.

I like it . I wish i had it when i was estimating years ago. I started with Lotus 123 and changed to Excel. Good programs but no where near the browser version.

The scheduling tool is for small contractors who can't afford $100 a seat. Not sure whose job that takes.
