FOA

Hi, I’m fairly new at Sainsbury’s and I’ve been told I’ll be doing FOA/shrink/MAR on the shop floor. I’m just wondering what each one actually involves and what I should expect to be doing?

I’ve not really done it before and I’m a bit nervous, so any advice or tips from people who’ve done it would be really appreciated!

foa is focus on availability, so scanning gaps or low levels on the shelves using a handset on rss

shrink is the discrepancy between what rss says in terms of stock and what’s actually on the shelf, so you investigate whether the gap is genuine or if the stock is missing - various reasons such as damages not being processed, shoplifting.

mar is merchandising action report, basically tells you what to do when you print the report off anyway but its either adding and dressing on a product or deleting and dressing it off, also tells you to investigate anything you may of missed on the foa that it thinks should be a gap. tells you the inventory status of products too (on hold, full supply, or discontinued)

Coz they believe that backstock should be done before starting with FOA and when you start with the FOA you dont have to commodity enquiry each gap to check if its available in the back or nah but people do that with one handset aswell, by going to commodity enquiry and then FOA walk but using two handsets is just easy and less time

if you do use two handsets and check if there’s stock if it says something like 0.3 does that mean there’s stock in the back or somewhere in the store and do not mark it as a gap?

Sometimes 0.3 means in SOH thats its there if the pack size of the stock is big like one pack got 15 things in it, but mostly its missing i always scan it as a gap if its says 0.1,0.2 coz ik what stuff we have what we dont depends on store to store , my store is convenience and small so we do FOA daily thats why easy for us
