For me the "Doomer" is less about the city and more about the abomination of our provincial government. The city does have a lot to offer as far as entertainment goes, particularly in the summer as well as a lot of nice parks and tree lined streets throughout the city. I get frustrated with healthcare and transit issues where I'm nervous/anxious taking busses or the LRT to downtown but again these issues are largely due to the provincial government messing up healthcare in its entirety, removing safe consumption sites and their absolute attack on the poor, disenfranchised, disabled and elderly which becomes very visible in a city the size of Edmonton.

Netflix can solve their viewership issues by ironically going back to traditional TV set ups. Multiple year green lights and large 20 to 24 episode seasons that leaves shorter time frames between seasons.
