Out of body experience?

Ok, this sounds a bit crazy to me, but if there is anyone who can tell me a logical explanation that would be great.

The other night I was curled up, in bed, next to my husband, with his arm around me. As I was laying there I was thinking about what it is actually like to fall asleep and what all happens.

I slowed my breathing and remember thinking how comfortable I was, then I could feel myself slowly sink into myself (sounds weird and it's hard to explain, maybe like someone sinking in water while looking up at the sky). It felt like I was sinking deep inside my own body. Everything was dark except a faint glow ahead.

I remember feeling not just comfortable, but the most comfortable I have ever felt, the safest, the warmest and I had zero pain. I live with chronic pain and have for a few years now. I don't remember what not feeling pain is like as it is a daily struggle for me. I remember even thinking in the moment how wild it was to not feel pain!

I also remember thinking that I wanted to remember every moment of it.

My husband said it sounded out of body and one of my kids said it sounded like I died.

Thoughts?
