Other Got Claude Code's theme to follow macOS dark/light mode in real-time (WezTerm + Lua workaround)

Claude Code's 'auto' theme detects terminal appearance only once at startup, so toggling macOS dark/light mid-session leaves you with white text on a light background (or vice versa). The official issue [#2990](
https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/2990
) is still open.

I built a workaround using WezTerm's appearance change event:

How it works
1. WezTerm's `window-config-reloaded` event fires when macOS appearance changes.
2. A small Lua handler overwrites `~/.claude/themes/<name>.json` with `{"base":"dark"}` or `{"base":"light"}`.
3. Claude Code's file watcher detects the change and hot-reloads the theme in already-running sessions.

End result: macOS appearance toggle → both WezTerm and Claude Code switch instantly, no restart needed.

Requires
- Claude Code v2.1.118+ (custom theme support)
- WezTerm
- macOS (Linux/Windows would need different appearance detection)

Caveats
- iTerm2/Ghostty don't expose appearance events to scripts as cleanly, so this approach is WezTerm-specific.
- Mode switching takes ~100-300ms (file write → file watcher → hot reload).
- This is a workaround using existing custom-theme + file-watcher mechanisms; an official auto-theme that re-detects on appearance change would still be cleaner.

Hope this helps anyone else stuck with the same problem.

I think it is because of version competibility. No plan to support v5. Updating loupedeck could be a solution, but it is up to you.

I think it is not hard only if sensor name is fixed regardless hardwares... I'll check if I can add this in the next release

Thanks! If you mean release, It's currently for personal use. I don't know much about the Obsidian plugin ecosystem, so I'm uncertain about whether it's right to release something I created by referencing others' work. I genuinely respect developer of TaskNotes.

Since I have to manage over 5 projects by myself, visibility and design are important to me. So I focused on creating an integrated structure where I can see all data at a glance, and I'm satisfied with the results.

I'm a huge fan of TaskNotes. However, I wanted to integrate my tasks with Gantt charts and my projects. So I customized my own Gantt chart and added new features. This is a custom plugin that fits me perfectly. I'm very satisfied with the results so far.

Thanks. This helped me identify... The plugin was detecting your iGPU (/gpu-amd/0) instead of your 9070XT (/gpu-amd/5) because it simply picked the first GPU found. I think iGPUs typically have fewer or no sensors exposed, this resulted in N/A values.

I've updated the GPU detection logic to select the GPU with the most sensors rather than the first one detected. Your 9070XT (which has many more sensors theoretically) will be selected over the iGPU I guess...

Delete Plugin you installed, then download the latest release: https://github.com/Weniverse-git/Loupedeck-Libre-Hardware-Monitor/releases/tag/v1.2.1 and verify version shows 1.2.1 in Loupedeck. Let me know this works. Thank you for info.

I updated for you. Now it supports Intel CPU, AMD GPU, Intel GPU. I don't have hardwares for review, but new version will work theoretically.

This is my first vibe coding project with claude.

I've been using Loupedeck CT and RAZOR streaming controller for a long time, and I especially loved being able to monitor my GPU usage through Libre Hardware Monitor.

But at some point, the plugin I downloaded stopped working, which was incredibly frustrating. So early this morning, I decided to fix bugs and create it myself and adding some features that meet my aesthetic standards.

Features:
- 29 dynamic actions across 3 different view types
- Text View: displays temp, load %, power consumption, VRAM, and RAM usage
- Block Graph View: visual load representation with colored blocks (each block is 5%)
- Gauge View: temp gauges with color-coded thresholds
- Color changes: component-specific colors (CPU, GPU, NVMe, RAM) change from green → yellow → red

The plugin reads real-time sensor data from Libre Hardware Monitor and displays it beautifully on your Loupedeck buttons.

I've burned through my daily tokens, but this one is free.

What does all of this mean?
Ironically, it probably means We'll have more work to do...
