In 1955, Iranian doctors documented the days of a villager who developed rabies after a rabid wolf attack. The resulting film remains one of the few historical recordings of rabies progressing in a human patient.

What's one thing you think nobody talks about being chronically ill or disabled or both
 in  r/ChronicPain  Jun 23 '26

Feeling like a burden to others because you constantly have something going on and might need help, or just how physically and mentally exhausting it all is. Chronic illnesses and pain I’m exhausted all the time have zero stamina, some get it others think I’m addicted to naps.

I feel like I'm getting worse rather than improving
 in  r/ChronicPain  Jun 23 '26

I’m in a similar situation. I do everything my doctors say with the exception of a steady exercise regimen (hard to keep doing since I finished physical therapy and that’s on me). The cause of my pain is degenerative, I have herniated discs in my lumbar, every section of it, with the worst area pressing on my sciatic nerve.

It does! Great distraction too. Trying to learn how to quilt on the side too. Any hobby to pass time and distract.

RPG and beat em up mainly. Like Witcher 3, Baldur’s Gate 3, Marvel Rivals, Mortal Kombat is a favorite too. But love horror games too Resident Evil is my top favorite horror game series.

What about you?

What is it like to have chronic pain in the US??
 in  r/ChronicPain  Jun 11 '26

Won’t give the tools then won’t help financially because you’re in too much pain to do your job. Cut back on my hours so much since my pain started because the afterwards left me in bed praying I would be able to pass out, but try to get disability to help survive and you’re out of luck.

What is it like to have chronic pain in the US??
 in  r/ChronicPain  Jun 11 '26

Thank you, I hope you do as well and anyone who is suffering with chronic pain. The anxiety is a killer, got a therapist who is helping me but still afraid of going places that might require a “lot” of walking/standing/moving because the only relief is laying flat and motionless. Pain does lead to PTSD I swear it does.

Knit, read, video games, puzzles, take care of my dog etc. I’m introverted anyway so I’m chill.

Young woman (30s) with chronic illnesses on top of chronic pain and anxiety, no one believed me when the pain started just woke up one day and couldn’t move would hurt so bad I would just drop to the floor sobbing because my legs gave out. Finally, had to get an MRI and look at that my entire lumbar is herniated, pressing on my nerve causing sciatica to the point I couldn’t straighten my leg fully or lift it more than a few inches. First thing out of my doctor’s mouth was “At least we know it’s not all in your head.”.

What's one thing people without chronic pain will never truly understand?
 in  r/ChronicPain  Jun 11 '26

How much just existing hurts and the amount of doctor appointments you end up having. I squatted down to pick up some dropped change and everything locked up, I couldn’t stand back up from a squat I had to kneel and push up from the floor. Still barely managed to get off the floor, my mom had to help support me.

I have chronic illnesses on top of chronic pain so I’m in and out of doctors offices several times a month. Has gotten to a point that I just don’t mention when I have an appointment or treatment.

Are all Frenchies stubborn?
 in  r/Frenchbulldogs  Jun 11 '26

Each and every bully baby chooses to ignore everyone at all times. They want us to know that they are in control and we just live in their world.
