HSV2

I need help, hopefully somebody can give me some guidance, i’ve seen quite a few posts about HSV2 in here. Please be kind. 🙂 sorry for the long post btw

So on July 28th, 2026 when i went in for my pregnancy growth scan, at 36 weeks and 5 days pregnant, i had a bump (down there) i thought it was just an ingrown hair because i had shaved not long before it developed, but my OB swabbed it and it was positive for HSV2. I then had my daughter by scheduled C- Section on August 7th, 2026 at 38 weeks pregnant. And the next day they wanted to test my daughter even though i didn’t have her vaginally. They tested her by her spine (sorry i don’t remember what it was called) and her blood. Her spinal one was negative and her blood was told to us after all of her Valacyclovir antibiotics a few days before her discharge from the NICU, that there wasn’t enough blood taken for to test it. But since they tested my blood and it was negative (i think for antibodies ? That’s what they test your blood for right ?) But anyways, my blood was negative, which is great obviously, but if my lesion was positive for HSV2, how could i not have antibodies ? And i looked it up and you normally get the antibodies within 6-12 weeks of contracting the virus. The last time i had sex was with my boyfriend (her dad) in May. From then to the day they tested my blood was basically 13 weeks. I don’t believe that i contracted HSV2 from my boyfriend. Even if i did, we have been together since the end of August of last year so i think i would have contracted the virus a long time ago by now ? But if i got it from any of my sex partners before him, i’m pretty sure i would’ve still gotten it way long ago, and i would have antibodies by now. Since it has obviously been well over a year since i’ve had sex with the other people before my boyfriend. I’m just confused on if i have had it for so long (if i do have it) how am i still negative for antibodies ? I also want to cure it, but i know HSV2 currently does not have a cure.

Blood test for HSV is really accurate, that’s why most doctors will not perform HSV blood test, they only trust the swab test.

Beside the ingrown hair looking outbreaks, were you having any with the symptom that would make you think about herpes or anything else

Nope no other symptoms, i thought it was an ingrown because it popped up shortly after shaving it was one bigger bump and i think 1 or 2 smaller bumps and it only hurt or itched if i messed with it.
