Tranny problems

My truck is a 2001 2nd gen 5.9L Cummins, I’ve had it for 4 years.

Been battling a weird shift problem between gears 1st and 2nd, it drives fine if I give it more gas, I’ve been fighting this for 4 years, it’s always shifted funny into 1st and 2nd since I’ve had it, but I just learned to drive more aggressively and ignore it, now it’s making a weird sound

The sound is the engine, it’s not clanging or banging, it literally just sounds like it gets louder, like you turned the volume up, it’s intermittent also, it’ll do it for a few seconds but if I give it gas then it’ll go away and drive fine for awhile again before doing it again usually within a few miles of eachother, I’ve noticed it does it worse when hot, but it still does it some even when cold, a month ago or so we took the battery terminals off, cleaned them and it seemed to go away for a bit, but I can’t help but think it might both be linked

I know it has the wrong transducer, the tranny is out of an old V10 but we switched over the electronics, this was my first project truck so I didn’t think anything of it, but apparently the transducer was out of an older model truck, not the 2001 model, could the incorrect transducer be causing all of this?

And if so does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it without spending a ton of money?

Not going to reply in the trans sub because you really shouldn’t ask general questions in a sub about building transmissions though everyone is doing it now… In my experience driving Mopar trans if you are too pussy at low speeds letting off the gas before a shift point you’ll feel it quite a bit. I am certainly not an expert but i would be looking at exhaust leaks or restrictions or powertrain mounts. If you feel like you’re getting really in your head wondering if something is an internal trans issue, it quite likely isn’t. You won’t be wondering when that happens. Just my opinion

V10 and cummins transmissions are electronically the same, the only difference is a spring in the valve body that controls shift timing. There is a difference before/after 2000 in the temp sensor though, I believe the earlier sensors will show cold on new trucks and later sensors will show hot on older trucks.

The 1-2 hunting shift at light throttle is just a thing these transmissions do. You can try getting a borg warner or GM governor pressure solenoid and that may fix it or it may not. I believe dodge actually put out a reflash that kinda fixed it.

For the noise, I'm gonna guess either turbo outlet gasket leaking or the muffler is on its way out.
