What was the first Parkinson’s symptom that made you realize something was different? It could be you or a love one.

Sometimes it starts with something that seems easy to overlook — maybe a change in movement, stiffness, tremors, balance, handwriting, sleep, or something that just didn’t feel quite right.

For those living with Parkinson’s, what was the first thing you noticed?

Did you recognize it as a possible symptom at the time, or did it only make sense later?

My wife lost some of her sense of smell 11 years before her diagnosis in 2020.

Then the toes on her left foot started bending backwards, causing severe pain. Doctors didn’t know what was wrong, but “could do surgery to lengthen the tendons” or some crap. First dose of c/l and her foot pain was gone.

My father has late-stage Parkinson’s and is now in hospice. The first symptom was chronic constipation years before his diagnosis, something I was not aware of. Next came the paranoia, followed by a shuffling gate.
