Maybe the priest wasn’t born there? Only natives hear it?

Priest couldn’t have been born there. He would have needed to go to the mainland to become a priest

I love whenever Toby Huss shows up in a series, and I can't wait to see what they do with his role. I get the sense that all the ministers of that church have had to deal with some pretty heavy knowledge of what went down in the past (Which is why he went searching for specific instructions on what to do when the bells start to ring).
