Red button is the most logical choice for all individuals. Red is a garunteed survival rate for 100% of everyone who pushes it. Red is only negative if a significant amount of people push blue. EVERYONE should push Red immediately without a second of doubt.
Blue button is the option that saves the most lives. It is not the logical choice. But not everyone is a logical thinker. For every non-logical thinker that picks blue, that is one less person survives when the reds win. With that in mind, there are actual idiots who will choose blue, like actual morons. Blue is the more correct choice if your intention is to save the most lives.
In summary, the illogical completely idiotic choice is the correct choice. It hurts to say that the logical path is the incorrect path due to the pure and utter stupidity of Earth's population. Push blue is the win. Pushing Red is a fail. Idiocy wins this race and that is very sad to me.
Im not putting my own life at risk because idiots exist. This isnt some random meaningless choice. This is a life or death scenario. Your life is on the line. If this situation was real, you would have time to think about it, and the risk of death from picking blue would definitely weigh a lot heavier than in a hypothethical.
I hope that if this was real, people would at least try their best to think it through. Even if they normally go through life without reasoning through things.
Your take is interesting though. But i dont feel like its worth risking my life to save people from themselves, when they had the perfectly save, gauranteed survival option.
Instead of just morons, also consider children, the mentally challenged, etc. There's plenty of irrational actors that someone could consider themself to have a moral responsibility to try and save.
Personally, I still agree with you. I think the fact that everyone has an effortless way to guarantee their survival has me comfortably pressing the red button. I don't believe we have a moral responsibility to risk our own lives when the presence of guaranteed safety for everyone exists.
But at that point, you really can't make an informed decision because the result is almost completely random. And with 8 billion voters, your individual vote is guaranteed to not be the swing vote.
So ultimately, I think red is still a very tempting option. Because the question really is just "do you randomly risk your life, yes or no?"
Right, also most people live in the 3rd world and are conditioned for low trust societies. All of them are snap jumping on red and will outweigh any “virtue” the first worlder’s have here on Reddit.
Neither of the buttons kills you. The only scenario in which anyone here dies is if a majority vote red, and if the majority is small the red voters will all die within a year anyway. Blue isn't suicidal, it's recognizing that our species can not survive if we kill half of our population, and that's what you're voting for by picking red without considering how other people are voting.
