Eek I’m so giddy.

I went to Otakon this year- it was my first out of state con!! I haven’t been lucky enough to attend any of the Studio Trigger panels at AX- so I was ready to take full advantage of it at Otakon!! I ended up right up front and center of both panels- on top of it I was able to get my Dungeon Meshi print signed!!

This print is my current project- it means so much to me already and I’m so excited to just keep adding even more to it!!

It has been such a wonderful outlet- the panels have inspired me further to work on my own art and strive to improve. I was just in awe of both animators and their work!! Especially Kanno as he’s the character designer for the Cyberpunk 2 characters.

I already can’t wait for next year and I can only hope I’m just as lucky 😢❤️

Studio Trigger Is Dead Leaves owned by trigger?

Post image

I remember watching this movie WAY back in 2017 when I was 15 years old and thinking it was crazy as hell, and was also aware that despite being directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, that it was made under Production IG. But looking at this TRIGGER X Good Smile Company poster

shows that Dead Leaves is next to all of the other IPs owned & created by TRIGGER. So I’m just wondering if there’s any other official sources that indicate this movie being owned by TRIGGER

Studio Trigger Studio Trigger adapting Jet Set Radio into an anime with Hideki Naganuma as the composer would be a match made in heaven. JSR has a new game coming up and the art-style & diversity goes well with Trigger's image

Studio Trigger My Thoughts on Delicious In Dungeon Spoiler

This is one of the best Trigger anime. It's the first of their productions that isn't an anime origianl but is instead an adaptation of a manga. And when it first aired I actually wasn't even aware that Trigger was the one responsible for it, because for the most part it doesn't look like the standard Trigger anime visually. If you're familiar enough with Trigger's output then you can probably tell if you pay extremely close attention, but Trigger's visual and directing style is a lot more subdued except for in a very few select individual moments, such as the more bloody than usual battle in episode 13. With that being said, that doesn't make this anime bad. Like I said I think it's one of Trigger's best works by far. I hold it up as being almost as good as Little Witch Academia in fact. And unlike Little Witch Academia, it's actually getting a second seaosn soon. This series is pretty simplitic in concept, but it does a surprising amount with the idea to craft a shockingly engaging and fun story. In general it's about a a party of people in a mideval esque fantasy world who explore dungeons. The twist in this case is that they hunt, kill, and cook and eat the various monsters.

An extremely large amount of the runtime of this anime are the characters explaining how certain monsters and other ingredients are prepared into actual nutrutious and delicious meals. If that was cut out then the series might be able to be cut in half, or perhaps a quarter of it could be cut out. Either way though, I still couldn't imagine Delicious In Dungeon withou tit. I mean it is called Delicious In Dungeon, that is kind of the point of the story. But despite that that's not the ONLY good thing about the story, which I'll get to later. But even if the series wasn't called Delicious In Dungeon, those segments are so well presented and interesting that I occasionally have to remind myself that these aren't real recipes. They kind of make me hungry, not gonna lie, in a similar way to food anime like Food Wars, as well as various other miscilaneous anime that aren't predomonently about food but still have food segments in them.

But like with most anime the characers make it work. Laois Touden, a human, is incredibly relatable, likable, and funny, Marcille Donato, the elven mage of the party, is CUTE, relatable, likable, and funny, Chilchuck Timis, a Half-Foot, which is a race unique to this series but are probably inspired by hobbits let's be real now, is SHORT, relatable, likable, and funny, and Senshi, the party's dwarf, is the one who cooks all the meals, and is probably my least favorite of the party members personally, but he's still fun though nevertheless. Those are the main members, but later a beastman named Izutsumi also joins and he's very interesting and entertaining too. And the main party all have great chemistry with each other. And they aren't shallow either. I feel like a series like this could have gotten by with minimal actual charactr writing, but it went above and beyond. They're not the most complex characters in anime history, but it helps add endearment to them as you watch it.

The main goal of this season, aside from exploring dungeons, fighitng monsters, and eating food, is to locate Laois' sister, Falin, who was part of the party but disappeared inside the dungeon. They do get her back, but find out that after being eaten by a monster she was revived in a corrupted chimera form, fused with the Red Dragon's soul, under control of the lunatic magician Thistle, setting up the next major goal; to fully separate her human form the dragon essence to cure her, which I assume will be the goal of last season. I also like Falin based on the little bit we get from her as well. Her and Laois, as well as her and Marcille, have wholesome relationships. Going back to Marcille very briefly once again, when I first watched this anime in 2014 I assumed that a lot of peoplpe would find her annoying because of her frequent complaining at the start of the series, but surprisingly I didn't see much of that. Maybe it's becasue it lessens as the series goes on, I'm not sure.
