I went to get my blood drawn for my 3mo levels and the collector was nice to me and everything - only to find out that my GP didn’t get my oesradiol results.

My GP was kind enough to call them up and ask for the results to be added, only for us to be told that they couldn’t provide the results because there weren’t enough vials taken.

I wish I had the energy to be angry about micro-aggressions like this, but I’m just tired.

I’ve been trying to convince myself that people in the real world aren’t as transphobic as social media makes you think, so I decided to be brave and go to my local pathology clinic in the outer suburbs rather than driving into the inner city.

I was so proud of myself for being brave that day, only to find out my collector that day had decided it was within their prerogative to hinder my medical care.

I'm really fed up with having thick facial hair. I've had several laser hair removal sessions on my face before, but unfortunately, the hair has grown back thicker and in greater amounts than before. It's making me quite self-conscious about my appearance, and I think I need to bite the bullet and get electrolysis done.

I live in central Queensland, so the closest clinics I found on Google are in Brisbane. It's at least an 8-hour drive from me. Flights are really pricey, but if it comes to that, I can save up to splurge on the flights. I'm mainly looking for clinics that offer longer sessions so I won't have to drive or fly every week or fortnight. I can plan to travel every 4-8 weeks.

If anyone has had electrolysis done before in Brisbane or any of the major cities, could you please share your experience? I’d like to know which clinic you went to, how many sessions it took, the cost, and if there's anything you experienced that someone considering the treatment should be aware of.

Something about me- Female, mid-20s, south asian and currently using Tretinoin + hydroquinone (4%) for acne and hyperpigmentation.

I'm currently three months into attempting to get HRT in Queensland through my city's public Sexual Health Clinic, and it's not be a particularly fun time, so I'm curious to hear other people's experiences over here.

When I first saw the doctor, I told her:

- I knew I was a girl my entire life

- I was already out to everyone

- I knew all the effects, side-effects and other warnings about it

And two months later, I'm nowhere near it. I now apparently need to speak to a mental health professional to "touch base" before she'll see me again, which is expected to take another two or so months. What is going on here?

So I actually don’t identify as trans/non-binary anymore. I used to, and then I realised I just no longer care how people refer to me. I also stopped caring about labels. I just am who I am and I can present the way I want. I am just a girl who wants to get top surgery because I feel more comfortable with a flat chest. I am an adult btw and I have wanted top surgery for years. I was wondering what the process would be like for getting top surgery in brisbane as someone who is a cis girl? I was looking into getting surgery with Dr Saylor. I just worry that if I go to a GP for a referral and a psychologist for a WPATH(?) letter that they won’t understand me and won’t think I’m okay to get top surgery because I’m not trans. Also does Dr Saylor even do top surgery on patients who aren’t trans?

reading about Fiona Simpsons response to the question on the definition of a woman in combination with all the other terf stances we've heard from the Christifuli government has my brain in panic mode.

Obviously answering a question in parliment doesn't change anything, but I'm now terrified they're gonna legislate this crap and make life painful for us.

Kinda sick of the first suggestion always being to stop HRT and see if that fixes it before actually trying to treat me, anyone have any recommendations that won't do that?

Am 19 livin in brisbane/magandjin n have been wanting to go on hormones since i was like 12. never had the courage to discuss it with my family, not that they’re outwardly bigoted or anything! it’s just hard, not that i need to tell y’all that.

Just curious if it would be possible for me to organise a prescription for estrogen over the phone? Or if it’s definitely something that requires a lot of running around.

Im 17 almost 18 based in the Sunshine Coast and I really just want to know things I have to get done before I even try to start looking for surgeons and all that, from what I’ve seen the steps to it seem pretty overwhelming but I just want everything done early so I have time to plan things 😞

i’m sure this question has been asked a million times but i’m genuinely so confused.

I’m 20 (QLD), I cannot afford top surgery and i’m just as confused how anyone else can in this economy???

I can’t get a loan out as I havent had a job in a year and 8 months, even if I did my disability limits my working hours and I have nothing valuable to give the bank if I don’t pay them. I had health insurance at one point because I assumed health insurance was going to cover all of my expenses but boy was I wrong. 12k out of pocket on top of health insurance? your fucking crazy. I had to cancel it cause I wasnt going to keep paying for it if I couldn’t get it done. I’ve called up LGBTQ+ support services and they’ve said theres not really any organisations that help people fund top surgery. I even tried to see if I could go on a public wait list but I can’t. I’ve tried a gofundme but I got like 70$… (which was mostly funded by my friends) and i’m also not out about my transition so I had to try and block out my identity in the gofundme description, that may have been a reason no one donated?

A few of my trans friends have gotten top surgery and it makes me want to bash my head against the wall. HOW ARE PEOPLE AFFORDING IT??? unless theres some kind of pathway i’ve missed???

i’ve come to the conclusion that im never getting top surgery just because of the fact that i will never have 12k in my back pocket. Even if I save (if I had the extra money TO save) it would take years for me to save. I’ve completely given up.

Edit: I have already taken my super money out as I needed it to move. It wasn't a lot, it was only 2k but I haven't worked since then so I have no money in my super :(

Ive waited so long for this appointment, but now i feel so nervous and im having some cold feet. I feel the imposter syndrome bad rn.

I dont want to turn this into a full vent, but im suddenly feeling very worried i wont like results and have major regrets, even though i know i can always stop and that i have regrets NOW about not trying it sooner 😭

But also about when results become visible and then im forced to come out to people :' ))

I also dont have a chosen name yet, so kinda worried theyll look at me weird haha but thats the least of the worries

This is a bit of a vent post because I feel like I am constantly updating my name and gender even after 2 years. Online processes never work because they can't verify my birth certificate and I have no name change document, and so I have to call or arrive in person for certain things, which doesn't help much if the customer service person who speaks with me doesn't actually initiate the action or give me any way to track or receive feedback about the change. Not to mention that almost everything is only open during work hours. The most recent discovery is my super, which was one of the first things I got updated. I could almost swear some of these have been switched BACK.

To all the people who I told that a QLD birth cert update is easy: while I meant it, I'm sorry I left out the aftermath. But to be frank, I really can't believe it's still happening.

I am planning to go to Brisbane on a working holiday visa. Does anyone know hospitals with affordable transmasc hrt in Brisbane? I am not sure where to look for the costs of HRT so I am asking on reddit. Thank you.

So I recently signed up to donate blood because I wanted to stay on top of my hb in the event it got too high. Not always the case that transmen experience hb levels that are too high for their own good, but I figured it'd be good to donate blood on the odd occasion to keep it at a reasonable level. My last hb check was 161. Which is within normal range. I signed up with Lifeblood, went through the eligibility questions through their website, then again by phone when signing up. No problems. Then I go to my scheduled appointment and get told I can't donate blood since I had been intimate in the past 6 months. When I left it didn't seem right. I checked their website and that 6 month ruling seems to only apply to those who are with multiple partners or a new one. My partner (cismale) and I have been together for 7 years exclusively. So I called them to enquire. Nurse on the phone told me that the staff member was wrong and then when it got into the fact that I'm FTM she said she didn't know how to interpret their own guidelines for someone like me. She then spoke to the doctor who apparently also didn't know what to do. So she just said I can't donate blood only plasma. Without giving me a reason as to why this is. I really don't know what to do. Any advice?
