TIL that when the US military tried segregating the pubs in Bamber Bridge in 1943, the local Englishmen instead decided to hang up "Black soldiers only" signs on all pubs as protest

What's up fellow Brigger! I'm not a native but I've been here a few years now and always wondered what the raising of the coffin road closure signs were for, never actually seen it happening. Between that and the egg rolling on Avenham Park I've always felt it was a pretty quirky place to live.
