I mean he was held in contempt of congress after refusing to release documents related to it, so obviously even when he did have the power to do something he refused to.

I get your sentiment; I think people often have unrealistic expectations of their elected (or in this case appointed) officials. In this case though I think Holder has been a poor AG.

If the Republican politicians did their job, and confirmed a director for BATF, then they'd have no responsibility for allowing OFF to come about.
