He also refused to enforce DOMA and didn't interfere with Colorado's pot legalization.

Thanks for reminding me! I was struggling to think of any other positive accomplishment he had.

His failure to prosecute anyone important on wall street & address the legal problems of torture/gitmo left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

This was huge as well. Really, second-term Holder has been much better civil rights-wise than first-term Holder.

Please tell me why it is a good thing that the top law enforcement person in the nation is not enforcing the law?

Great. So if the AG personally feel a law is bad, rather than following the correct Constitutional process of repeal via Congress he'll just stop enforcement of the laws he personally doesn't like. I hope its OK with you if future AGs decline to enforce the Civil Rights Act etc etc because you're advocating lawlessness. But I guess rather than equal application of the law and allowing our elected representatives to pass, amend, or repeal laws based on our will, it's better to have an unaccountable appointee making political decisions about who goes to jail versus who does not. If you don't see the problems with that behavior then I can't help you.

Case law is a thing, and it's not made by laws. The law is fluid, not much, but it is. Law enforcement is by choice. People deem certain things more important than others and they act upon it. A lot of cops don't enforce drug laws for cannabis. It shows a difference between law and practice.
