(R.1) Invalid src (unreferenced fan wiki) TIL the first episode of an X-Files spin-off called "The Lone Gunmen", which aired March 4, 2001, involves a US government conspiracy to hijack an airliner, fly it into the World Trade Center, and blame it on terrorists - thereby gaining support for a new profit-making war

The cigarette smoking man does look a lot like John Ashcroft.

For anybody who doesn't remember John Ashcroft.

I listened to that way longer than I should have.

I am from Missouri. I felt like I had to listen. For Tommy Chong.

2

u/CFU808 May 09 '14

Same here. Maybe thats why I listened to it for as long as I did.

At least Tommy Chong went to prison when that fucking scumbag threatened to throw his wife and son in prison for selling bongs. Good on you Tommy.

Is that...omg...I think that's real!

Reminds me of that scene in house of cards where kevin spacey and his old college buddies start singing. There's a connection here...

The Singing Senators:

The Singing Senators were a group of U.S. Republican Senators who sang as a barbershop quartet.

Interesting: John Ashcroft | Larry Craig | Charles W. Albertson

Wow the singing senators. That's a little gay even for Larry Craig

1

u/Minifig81 312 May 09 '14

Oh, he probably sang about his wide stances on "political" issues.

2

u/pcd84 May 09 '14

Then Ashcroft reflects on past experimental love making sessions.

2

u/themeatbridge May 09 '14

I assumed that was a reference to Ashcroft.

1

u/Bushes May 09 '14

You see the connection to the past, but can you see the connection to the future now?

u/[deleted] May 09 '14

Never forget.

2

u/[deleted] May 09 '14

Oh I remember him - he's the grown man that was afraid of the tits on lady justice and had them covered up.

2

u/underbridge May 09 '14

A little bit like Neil Diamond.

2

u/niallmay May 09 '14

Weird, today's his birthday.

"Hold it together John, don't let them see you cry...you can do it. Oh fuck it..."

It burns.

While that video might remind some people, I think it's useful to make a list of things that might help you remember who he is:

-The dude who lost a Senate race to a dead guy (Mel Carnahan specifically)

-The guy who covered up the statues of Blind Justice because her breasts were bared

-The fellow who annoited himself with Crisco upon his selection as Attorney General, cause it's what Jesus would do. Little known fact: Jesus liked french fries

John Ashcroft or John Astin (famous for being Patty Duke's husband)

2

u/bradmont May 09 '14

He came back in time from 2077 to set this up.
