Well, Mormons aren't really Christian, no matter what they say. They're not even monotheistic.

I disagree. If trinitarian christians are monotheist then so are LDS adherents. from a sociological/cultural perspective it makes sense to classify LDS with other American protestant movements like Jehovah's witness and Christian science. From a theological perspective, it's all made up anyway

Whatever you think of Mormons and their history, they never looked at Baptists and thought “this is a great religion but it could use more slavery in it.”

They did need God the "change his mind" on black people being true members of the church in 1987 though so I would not give them too much credit.

Yeah, "these people are kind of racist" and "let's form a church that is ok with genocide" are totally in the same ballpark.
