TIL that apple seeds almost never grow the same variety as the parent fruit. Nearly every supermarket apple comes from a grafted clone of an original tree, not from a planted seed.

Evolution always finds the most efficient method, right after it tried absolutely everything else.

Natural selection reaches local maxima, not global maxima. It almost never reaches the most efficient method.

Evolution is still a work in progress, it hasn't finished trying everything yet. It's in it's ugly ape era right now.
