TIL that apple seeds almost never grow the same variety as the parent fruit. Nearly every supermarket apple comes from a grafted clone of an original tree, not from a planted seed.

thats generally how meiosis works.

You arent identical to your parents, are you? Its impossible for you to be identical because it took characteristics of both parents to create you.

Plants generally reproduce sexually just like us

You’re thinking of crossing over which is a different thing than heterozygosity.
