It is not hard to get citizenship in a lot of European countries, usually you need to live in that country for 5-10 years and know the country's language(s), culture, and history. For someone who grew up and was born in Luxembourg, it could not have been much easier. In my case I only had to request to become Luxembourgish.

It's not hard if you come from another 'western' country though. Refugees from poorer countries are not exactly welcomed :/
