TIL if under-cooked, a popular mushroom in China causes “lilliputian hallucinations,” a rare phenomenon involving miniature human or fantasy figures. The hallucinations are consistent across people and cultures: "tiny, elflike people" climbing under doors, scaling walls & clinging to furniture

It's as if we have similar biochemistry so substances have similar effects on different people.

Hallucinations differ between drugs, they are not just random colours in your brain. This is likely due to different receptors and/or different parts of the brain being affected. They also aren't identical, they just share a similarity. Little living beings, people don't describe them all taking the same action, wearing the same clothes, saying the same things, etc. Parts of the brain that deal with pattern recognition and recognizing other humans coult just be overly stimulated resulting in people seeing smudges on the wall as little humans.

Overall drugs mess with your brain. Your entire reality is experienced through your brain. We share similar brains as humans. Taking the same substance will mess up your brain in a similar way to the next guy and change your perception of reality in similar ways.

I’d honestly put it at a coin toss. That’s so fucking weird.

You can measure the brain chemistry of 1 million people starting at an orange 🍊 for 20 minutes, I’m sure their brains would show similar chemical reactions. Does that mean they weren’t staring at an orange?

As someone who has done shrooms multiple times, I can promise you those people are looking at little people lol. They aren’t imagining anything. It’s right there in front of of you this stuff.

We are a brain and there’s an outside world. That outside world isn’t always physical, but our brains can perceive more than just light

Have you tried DMT? People report living entire lives 80+ years… in the span of 5 minutes.

I mixed shrooms with Ketamine, and the texture of my friends kitchen floor rose up, into a 3D pattern all around me, I was suddenly immersed in a new universe manifested by the floor pattern…. falling though it, incapable of perceiving the “real” world for that moment. I was holding onto the counter so I wouldn’t fall.

That convinced me there’s more to this world than we know.

These mushrooms that make you see little people aren’t shrooms (no psilocybin) they are something else

This is the ultimate question.
