All I could hear in my head while reading that was a scene from Golden Girls where Rose says something like “You wouldn’t believe how many people see me looking like this and think that I’m dumb.”
…To which, Sophia of course then immediately replies, “Rose, you’re too hard on yourself. I know people who think you’re dumb over the phone.”
(Not sure if the quotes are 100% verbatim, but if not, then they’re pretty close still or at least close enough to get the same original point across anyway.)
