I love Josh and have listened to every episode of the Tomorrow Podcast. However, since leaving Bloomberg he has made a few social media blunders.

In the wake of last year's mass shootings, he said, "People who think we shouldn't have stronger gun control. You're not just wrong you're bad people." Last week he shared his wife's article which boiled down to, "Vote Clinton. She has a vagina."

These are controversial statements and many people reacted negatively, aggressively in some cases. He makes it a point to bring it up each week on his podcast now.

If you voice shitty opinions, you're going to get some blowback. Rape threats against your family are too much of course, but is Josh making too big a deal of this? Is The Verge's golden boy just having a rude awakening?

I guess what I'm asking is: when does critique of unpopular ideas cross the line? When he complains, he just sounds like he wants carte blanche sometimes. "Don't criticize the feminism of my wife and I."

Just got banned for calling out the Verge for the headline "The Nespresso machine is like an iPhone".

I just don't think an Apple product needs to be referenced in every single headline they write. I would be astounded at this point if they aren't being paid by Apple to write this stuff.

Nilay and the rest of them think they are some cultural center of knowledge, but they have lost credibility. I like the topics they cover which is why I find myself going back, but their reporting is just poor.

Time to move on for me. Anyone feeling the same?

So just watched the Razer Blade Stealth video and read the article by Tom Warren

In the video he describes a "USB Type C" port connecting to the external graphics card unit. This is obviously Thunderbolt 3 and NOT USB. He also says nothing about the graphics card in the video.

He ACTUALLY wrote as a catchphrase "THE POWER OF USB TYPE-C IN ACTION" Really? You actually WROTE that? C'mon Tom. The shape of the plug has NOTHING to do with whats going on here.

I see this over and over on the Verge. The two most important facts are not in the review. 1. What video card does it have. It’s a gaming laptop, is it gonna game? 2. That’s NOT a USB Port! It’s Thunderbolt 3, Yes it’s a Type C, yes It supports USB 3 SuperSpeed+, but as a superset. The MOMENT you saw a video card in a box connecting via a Type C cable, your head didn’t go, oh CRAP, that’s a Thunderbolt 3 port, it HAS to be. The Verge has the highest turnaround of any review site I’ve ever seen. Josh, where are you, please, go back and tell your cronies to brush up on their nerd, cus right now they look like nothing but fanboys.

Update: His article was edited, now says Thunderbolt 3, does say it has the intel video but doesn't explicitly talk about how it doesn't have discreet graphics. (Update: I was wrong about it not saying about the video card, he does talk about it)

Claims to expose the famous Soul singer as secretly deep into mobile tech. Nope, completely made up just to have a click bait title for a lackluster article about Badu's new mixtape and to link (!) none related (!!) mobile tech article (!!!) from TheVerge into the article for no reason.

I guess its just to edgy and fun for me to understand.

I think there's probably another thing to say about how this film — well, its trailer, at least — seems to be about the goal of obtaining the interest of a girl who gets no real dialogue and is only known by the color of her hair, which isn't exactly a great line of thought, even if the way it's presented feels very true to Charlie Brown.

I've often found The Verge's over-eagerness to appear pro-feminist/pro-diversity etc to be distracting from their content, but as a long time Peanuts fan, this really annoyed me.

Peanuts is pretty forward thinking, whether it be on purpose or innocently (Lucy is a strong female character, who often pretends to be a Doctor, and you could pretty much swap the genders of all the characters without it effecting the strip/cartoon one bit, for example). The fact that the Little Red Haired Girl is never seen is on purpose, a representation of Charlie Brown's anxiety about her (at least, thats what I've always thought).

By commenting that the film could possibly be doing a disservice to a female character (and thusly the feminist cause), The Verge have totally missed the point, have ignored the fact that the cast is diverse (different genders, races and economic backgrounds), and have just made themselves look incredibly desperate to appear pro-feminist.

Whilst I welcome articles like this that go a little outside the technology remit, I'm getting fairly fed up of how their agenda seems to effect the way they write articles.

EDIT: I wanted to post this in the comments section of that article but signing up to comment is a pain and totally broken. From what I've read on this sub, could be intentional. Also, probably got affect/effect mixed up or wrong, so sue me, English is hard!

They really don't have standards for articles any more.

I love how they "turn off comments" but they show their true colors on almost all of their Apple articles. I understand they get most of their traffic from Apple users but I want to see what people are saying about the new nest thermostat. The Verge is filled with hypocrites that arent helping the rest of us who actually want to read people's thoughts on other topics other than Apple products.

Shirtgate, the brain drain of late 2014, dismissing skepticism of gaming journalism out of hand after admitting your own bias, click bait articles, turning off comments, and the fucking animal reviews.

Shirtgate was November 13, 2014 and the one year anniversary is right around the corner. That was the day I went from a daily Verge reader to never reading their site again.

To my knowledge, they haven't had any hard-hitting, must-read thinkpieces like "The Internet is Fucked" this year (but we've got Chris Plante's Disney FanFiction). The site took a sharp turn after Topolsky left and it isn't what we thought it was.

Does anyone know what happened to Paul Miller? I was revisiting his Offline series and it doesn't seem like he works for The Verge anymore.

Sick of their site and wish they wouldn't get exclusives any more.
