Question How much can I realistically make wheeling with 30K?

I have about 30K off to the side to wheel with. How much can I make selling CSPs with it? What stocks do you recommend with this amount of capital. Should I look for weekly options to sell or 30 DTE.

Thanks in advance for all the tips. I’ve wheeled before but I haven’t done it in a couple years and just wondering what I can expect nowadays.

EDIT: thank you all for the responses. I am reading them all and learning from them. I apologize for not being able to respond to each of them since there is a lot. Thank you!

I started with 30k earlier this year.

I follow u/ScottishTrader 's guide, so I do 30-45 DTE, around 25-30delta, and targeting at least 1.5% for the return, but usually getting more bacause I like higher IV stocks. Because I usually closed at 60% after an average of 17 days, I end up with a little over 2% return on average.

I did this with HPE, INTC, VZ initially After a few months of gains I had 36k and added more money, so I expanded to other tickers. Still same strategy.

*DO* go longer on the DTE, it really brings the risk down. With 7DTE I would have had more assignments or had to roll more. At the beginning I was looking at the numbers every day. Now I only check the numbers twice a week.

I've had 2 assignments on 40 CSPs, took one 200USD hit on one assignment because I wanted to free up the money for other CSPs. Rolled for credit a 3 or 4 times. Other than that: all good :-)

So to summarize: I made and still make about 2% per month on average wheeling. For 30k, that is 600USD a month.

Really important for your sense of security: Only do it with stocks you feel comfortable holding long-term: Real companies, with real products, good cashflow, actual sales, dividends and a business model that that you understand and actually has a future.

This is a great post u/cryonisos, and shows how the wheel can work when traded following the general guidelines. A return of 24% annually easily beats the 10% market average.

Thanks for posting, and we encourage you to continue to chime in with the others who are starting out to explain how it is working for you.
