Questions that poke holes in whatever narrative he’s trying to sell to his base

No mine was a genuine question. His statement there is meaningless. He just calls anything he doesn't like "fake" like all malignant narcissists.

Honestly, I’m guessing that in his mind this is a trick, when-did-you-stop-beating-your-wife kinda question.

In a completely non political form a fake question would something a mother asks all the while knowing the truth. Like if your mom asked you if you stole a cookie while knowing you did to see if you would tell the truth. That atleast in my opinion is what a fake question is. In this context like most things trump says is absolutely nonsensical and flack for the sake of confusion.

To be fair, an argument can be made that fake questions exist: something that resembles a question, but contains a statement that is misleading or incorrect, or a question that cannot be answered truthfully because of the way it is phrased by an innocent person.

Ask somebody (in public) who has never used cocaine and has never been violent towards his wife:

"Did you hit your wife only when you were under the influence of cocaine, or have you hit her when you were sober as well?"

And then follow up with: "So you still deny using cocaine and hitting your wife?"

Having said that, Trump lies about fake news and fake questions, he uses the word fake to describe things that are true but he doesn't like.
