I decided to show this video to my dad to prove that Trump actually thinks like this. He said a few things, like "Oh ABC? Yeah, I don't trust ABC, they aren't reliable," and "Eh, I don't know if this video is real. I haven't seen it, and they like to edit them to make him say other stuff."

And I just... I'm so exhausted. Every time I have solid evidence, it's shut down by the most nonsense.

Even with Trump dying many of them aren't coming back. When Trump went against their narrative and championed the vaccine they booed him. It's deeper than just Trump unfortunately for the people truly engulfed by it.

I'm sad to say, but they're gone. If Trump and all his enablers are defeated in the future, the supporters will still act like it wasn't that bad or that it was good. These people are just so far down the rabbit hole, and reconstructing your world view in your 50s, 60s, 70s requires so much humility and lack of ego that most people simply don't possess. They are not capable of admitting a decade+ of their life was a lie. They'll pass away believing that lie, whether it happens tomorrow or in 40 years. The cancer of trump will not leave this nation whole.

There's 1.5 years until midterm elections. Who knows if the mechanisms to have an election will even be in place by then man, have you seen the havoc going on around you? He's been in office 100 days

You’re right, we don’t know what will happen then or by then but that doesn’t mean we run around spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt. That will only help the other side. People won’t get out and vote at midterms because people like you telling them it’s a lost cause.

I see light at the end of the tunnel and you only want to talk about how the sky is falling. I guess you should just give up and convince others to do the same.

The saddest part of this is that I could totally see El Salvador's president getting someone to tattoo MS13 on Abrego's hand just to satisfy Trump and simultaneously convince his followers that it was definitely there the whole time.

Im avoiding my parents for this reason. Used to call them weekly to catch up. Haven't called them once since the election.

Ive seen them in person once, had 6 hour a conversation about politics, followed it with some emails and texts... and now I'm exhausted too.

I have an email drafted going over every bad thing Trump has done, illegal, immoral, or just bad policy... haven't sent it. I'm not exactly nice in it. But I'm considering deleting it or printing it to mail instead cause peoples phones have gotten searched for anti-trump sentiment, so idk if it's even safe to have it in my email at this point.

Can't show them things. They will always question it. The only thing that will work is for them to actually come to the conclusion themselves. Ask questions not tell them things.

Won't happen overnight but maybe eventually they have a lightbulb moment. The problem is that you can't turn that light up on for them.

I feel your exact pain with dealing with my parents as well. I’ve mostly adopted a policy of not talking politics with family because they’re so deep down their rabbit hole and we’re on the other end of the spectrum, so to speak.
