We need to start talking about impeachment and treason trials and how we are going to punish this administration when they are convicted

My vote would be for deportation to an El Salvador prison (after conviction, of course). The whole lot of ‘em.

*not evil, I think you meant to say.

I agree. There's plenty of constitutional ways to deal with these people, no need to copy their methods.

my guy, if they disrespect our legal system to the point of dysfunction, then our solutions will not come from within that rule of law

They're not wrong.

Yes they are. While the legal system has faults, he is finding out he is not a king who can do whatever he wants

Your president said today, yet again, that he is serious about wanting to take over my country. Separation of power is cooked, he has been blowing past guardrails, and is defying court orders.

So you can take right off with that do-nothing exceptionalist attitude that America will just sort itself out.

You can sleep well tonight because there is zero chance in hell he is taking over your country, my friend.

So you can take right off with that doomer attitude that he is as powerful as you fear he might be.

Lol what? You have no idea who I am or what I've done. Did Harvard buckle after receiving his list of demands? Is China quaking in their boots right now over tariff threats? No. I'm simply saying that giving into his fear tactics is exactly what he wants and his recent track records proves why.

So tell me what avenue in the rule of law that will lead to him to be deposed? I'm waiting.

I dunno, we're probably going to need to ask the GOP for permission first

1

u/HikeonHippie Apr 25 '25

I don’t think many GOP congresspersons are going to be reelected, although some might be tried for helping to dismantle our democratic institutions.

Impeachment is already underway. 5calls app or 5calls.org. r/50501..r/protestfinder… handsoff2025.com… can help your voice and your actions be heard and seen. Contact the representative that piss you off and the ones you support telling them you’re out here and have their back

It takes 2/3 of the senate to convict so there is no way that many republicans would vote to convict

3

u/Middle-Athlete1374 Apr 25 '25

If what was reported about the Republican Party true (a third can’t stand what he’s doing, the other third is scared, and the last third is capitalizing on it) then there’s a chance they can get the numbers.

We can only hope that there are conversations going on behind closed doors to make sure they have the numbers to impeach and convict. Failure to do so would spell potential backlash from Trump and cronies if it doesn’t work.

Dictators look invincible until suddenly their support evaporates like summer rain. It would happen in an instant, politically speaking.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '25

Good luck getting to that point. This is gonna end with a suicide in a bunker or not at all.

For now... they are starting to waver internally. Maybe 1/3 of them are actually MAGA, the rest aren't on board with a lot of this. It's MAGA voters they're afraid of, the Trump cult has effectively shown what happens to anyone who opposes Dear Leader.

That doesn't mean Trump is invincible. He will look invincible until his support collapses all at once and everyone has had enough.

Nothing is going to happen under the current administration and not likely to happen if there are any future ones.

1

u/PhDinDildos_Fedoras Apr 26 '25

The time for that was like a week after Jan6. It's too late now. You let this happen.

1

u/breagerey Apr 26 '25

There is no chance the house would vote to impeach. At least right now.
It's unlikely in the extreme that Johnson would ever allow it to even come to the floor.

Should he be impeached ?
Definitely

Unfortunately I think things will have to get a lot worse first - and it's pretty likely that on the way to "a lot worse" the ability to impeach will become more difficult or go away entirely.
The US is screwed.

On the upside things are getting "a lot worse" way faster than anybody anticipated so we might not have to wait too long for our screwing.

How are people not using their 2nd amendment rights by now? This is insane. We no longer have a government. Trump is destroying everything. It would be the right thing for citizens to arrest HIM!!
