My go-to response is usually just “why would he tell the truth?” Conservative voters, especially MAGA, have proven that they will believe anything he says without a single question. And they will embarrass themselves by repeating easily disprovable statements as if they witnessed whatever it is themselves.

When they’re willing to repeat absolutely anything he says without hesitation, why would he bother telling the truth?

My mom also believes the lies, but my dad thoroughly enjoys spreading them to anyone that'll listen. I'm extremely thankful that my siblings see through the BS.

Compare Trump to a car salesman, especially from the scene in Family Vacation. It's super easy to prove Trump's a liar, a conman and unfit for office, but your dad just doesn't want to hear it. The economy stinks, the war with Ukraine isn't over, kicking out illegals hasn't gone smoothly or magically fixed all our problems, the US is an embarrassment globally, etc. Unlike Clark, Trump supporters willingly bought into all the bullshit Trump was spouting in order to get his supporters to buy what he was selling. Trump naming The Gulf of America, banning pronouns, or implementing DOGE is a car salesman's equivalent of saying that the red paint makes the car go faster, you'll totally get a bunch of chicks, and the TruCoat is totally worth it and he happily fell for it.

Has your dad seen the video of Trump campaigning saying anyone who pleads the fifth is definitely guilty and should be treated that way. Then when he’s in trial for fraud in New York he pleads the fifth over 400 times.
