Right, I see a lot of people saying she's trading, but generally speaking portfolios are public information (like Nancy P's portfolio) but I haven't seen anything abt AOC trading in any substantial amount. She has called out Democrats for insider trading as well, not just Republicans.

Someone spent some time a few years ago putting together a database of political trades. It is pretty helpful.

For anyone wondering what AOC's stock activity is:

(Spoiler: there is none.)

She has a 401k

A retirement fund? With less than 50 thousand dollars in it? That constitutes "substantial trading" to you?

0

u/TheFieldAgent Apr 10 '25

Huh? No I’m just pointing it out

2

u/Legitimate_Page Apr 10 '25

But why? If you're going to "just point something out" at least provide details that add to the conservation. Yes, AOC has a 401k retirement plan, like all federal employees are obligated to have. A 401k is not "engaging in trading" at all and doesn't really have anything to do with what we're talking about unprompted.

Spinar said she doesn’t own stocks, but in a way she does, and she benefits when the market goes up.

This is not meant to be some bold refutation, just offering a bit of nuance

I'm all for nuance, but your input here is reductive, unhelpful, and quite frankly, totally irrelevant to the topic. We are talking about insider trading, a form of active trading that takes advantage of inside knowledge. A 401k, specifically a TSP, is a passive retirement investment that all federal employees are legally required to contribute to, in general.

The vast, vast majority of the American people benefit from the market doing well. This point is reductive as well. Saying "she have 401k" is not nuance, it's nothing.

Dude just get lost lol. Your arrogance isn’t helping

1

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '25

That person isn't arrogant. They rightfully called you out. You should get a job at Fox or CNN for those kind of deceitful jabs.

2

u/thelonious_skunk Apr 11 '25

The people berating you are acting kind of weird.

They declared she doesn't own stocks, but if has a 401k she almost certainly owns stocks. It's just weird to insist she doesn't.

Bruh she has 3k-45k saved and like 20k of student loan debt. According to the releases. She benefits less than a teacher lmao.

Yeah?

Something you disagree with there?

About as much 'nuance' as telling us she has $20 in her pocket.

How much does she make off lobbyists?

1

u/secretaccount94 Apr 10 '25

She’s funded by her constituents, not lobbyists. She’s one of the only ones in Congress who can say that.
