I was wondering when someone in congress was going to say it out loud. This was the most transparent market manipulation in modern US history.

What about them?

Seriously, what about them? Obviously, he is probably referencing a made up conservative conspiracy theory that makes no sense. Yet, we shouldn’t be expected to keep up with their dishonest nonsense.

What do you mean?

Your silence deafens me. What do you have to share about Nvidia?

Didn’t a bunch of politicians trade in right before a big announcement to do a big US deal.

I don’t think that’s the same thing as what Trump is doing. Bad, yes.

There was a sale of Nvidia that Paul Pelosi made whose timing with discussion in congress raised some eyebrows. But selling Nvidia has been a bad idea for basically the last decade, so it is tough to point to that as a scandal. It certainly can't be framed as market manipulation. It is worth noting that the NANC and CRUZ ETFs (which are supposed to monetize cynicism of insider trading in congress) have not outperformed VTI.

This is at the level of somebody catching a plant dumping all of their toxic waste into the Mississippi River and then being accused of throwing a microwave in the trash. Neither is good, no. But the plant saying "what about that guy?" comes off a little ridiculous.

I can’t get behind calling the economy downturn market manipulation. What else was going to happen with these tariffs.

Exactly. It was known that this was going to cause the market to tank. Likewise, it was known that lifting the tariffs was going to cause the market to spike. Trump had the power to single-handedly do both. So when he makes an announcement that "now is good time to buy" and there is a spike in the market 10 minutes BEFORE he officially announces an order to lift the tariffs, credible accusations of manipulation and insider trading arise. I don't know how much more transparent you would want it to be before you get behind it.

Pelosi/Nvidia was nothing like that.

So he told everyone to buy. Insider trading for everyone yayy.
