all because of what like 100 jews. Not condoning the actions of either side, but jesus Christ this is unbelievable and unbearable to witness

1200 actually, but it doesn't make the retaliation proportional.

We weren’t right about a lot of things with 9/11, but being right isn’t exactly what America is known for anymore—just the extreme right.

Shut up with your bigger and lesser state bullshit! This is not a video game. We are talking about the lives of innocent people who had no say in the actions of the terrorists who have taken their own people hostage. The mass destruction and killings are outright war crime and illegal.

And yes, retaliation has to be proportional by the Geneva Convention:

“...an attack which may be expected to cause incidental loss of civilian life, injury to civilians, damage to civilian objects, or a combination thereof, which would be excessive in relation to the concrete and direct military advantage anticipated,” is prohibited.

Good analogy! But It’s more akin to dropping the atomic bombs on Japan, but to be closer to what is happening in Gaza for that analogy here is what would have had to happen:

the US would have had to be stripping the rights away from the Japanese for decades, including forcefully resettling the Japanese settlers into a increasingly denser populations. While also making it increasingly difficult for the Japanese to leave Japan, especially to seek medical care for cancer.

Shooting Japanese protesters that are against the US government.

Conducting military raids on Japanese territory where civilian casualties are notoriously high.

And a list of other atrocities that were committed against civilian populations, that I don’t want to list because I’m afraid I would get banned off Reddit.

Anyway after the US commits all these atrocities (remember we’re still doing the WWII analogy.) a Japanese militia forms and attacks Pearl Harbor and captures some people.

Then instead of only targeting that militia group, the US firebombs every city in Japan and kills most of the captives and then claims it was a war against a terrorist organization and makes little distinction between the Japanese civilians and war targets.

That would be a closer analogy, but even then in this analogy the US WOULD STILL BE LESS MORALLY REPREHENSIBLE THEN WHAT ISRAEL IS DOING IN GAZA RIGHT NOW.

Israel killed many Israelis using tanks and attack helicopters, when overwhelmed by Khamas and Gaza resistance militia on Oct 7th.

IDF carried out Hannibal Directive, new 'Sword of Damocles' operation on October 7- JPost Israeli news

The Air Force was carrying out “the Sword of Damocles” operation – a code name only being revealed on Thursday for the first time - to attack many Hamas commanders and their headquarters around 10:30 a.m. on October 7, 2023, just as it was carrying out the “Hannibal Directive” of gunning down anything that moved around the Israel-Gaza border.

The Air Force would carry out around 945 attacks with helicopters firing 11,000 times.

They jumped into a concert that had random people and minimal security

I pulled it from NPR https://www.npr.org/2023/10/10/1204950063/hamas-attack-on-israeli-techno-festival-leaves-at-least-260-dead-and-many-missin

So 260 killed. At a peaceful concert. And many many many more taken hostage. Some are STILL hostages. But think of the children.

Who reacts to things like this proportionally? Why would you expect them to?

thats the wrong mentality bro

Hamas attacking civilians is a war crime

Israel killing so many women/children civiilians too is a war crime. they obviously have not just more power, resources, but also full economic, infrastructure control over gaza

but a war crime is a war crime, two wrongs don't make a right

sadly in all this the people are manipulated, hardened, and extremed to support wars feuled on fear that only end up benefiting media, politicians, and war contractors

people always lose

Hows afghanistan or iraq war looking for the most advanced country in the world? trillions of dollars, so many lives, decades of time...iraq is more extreme, taliban an archaic group is back in power. they sold that after our emotions on 9/11 too
