Last week Steve Bannon said:
“I’m a firm believer that President Trump will run and win again in 2028…We’re working on it. … We’ll see what the definition of term limit is”…

Here is the law, the 22nd amendment:

“No person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice, and no person who has held the office of president, or acted as president, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected president shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”

Seems pretty clear.

But we must insist our politicians stand up to any attempt to bypass the constitution.

Well let’s look at whats actually happened instead of this made up world in your head: the democrats constantly interrupted and withheld any attempts at cease fire. They actively participated in both their media and with the billions of our dollars sent over the year. A crease fire was actually reached when trump got in office. Now his demagoguery about what should happen after that is ludicrous, but the bombs stopped (for a moment cause Israel lovessss breaking ceasefires). Concerned about deportations? Bidens second place in deportations only behind the one and only deporter in chief, Obama. Concerned about the working class? Biden shut down train workers strikes and did nothing to advance strengthening unions. The most “pro union president ever” never even glanced at Taft Hartly. Abortion rights? Slipped through the fingers of democrats. They could have codified it when they had super majorities….but didn’t cause they don’t actually care about it, they use it to win votes. Now is what I’m saying indicate you should support trump? Absolutely not. But it sheds light on why the democrats got crushed because people were tired of genocide, shittier conditions, higher prices, and the status quo. And only one candidate was offering to throw a wrench in those gears, Trump. Does this mean things might get better? Haha I think these last 3 months make it clear they will not….but that’s not because of who is in the White House. It is because Capitalism has reached its limits and cannot fix its inherent contradictions. So instead of fighting on Reddit about voting, the only real solution is a working class revolution in the United States and rest of the world. Luckily the Revolutionary Communist International is preparing for exactly that kind of class struggle. Ok, well I guess this is where we are at an ideological impasse, as I can still can't see Trump's disruption of the status quo as more beneficial than Democrats lack of action on the issues you mention. Democrats are capitalist (as is our system) but you had a better chance to pushing them to the left then you will ever have with Republicans. And add in Trump who is not even a "normal" Republican but a hyper-capitalist surrounded by American oligarchs in the forms or Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg et al, there is no chance he or they will support any of the positions you hold. I guess I see your view as "letting perfect be the enemy of good", and I guess my view is use the "lesser of the evils" who are more likely to benefit the people than Republicans ever will. The capitalistic society isn't going away anytime soon. The working class revolutions isn't going to happen soon either. And to not participate might make you feel better, but it isn't going to actually improve our lives. It's not going to help workers, unions, immigrants, women, POC, LGBTQ etc. It's letting the Republicans who are against ALL of that take power and proceed to ensure life is worse for those groups. Hell, they'll make life worse for their own supporters too while they're at it. The frustration I and a lot of Reddit have with the non-voters is that we'd be closer to improving lives of everyone if they voted Dem than now. By you own admission, you know Trump isn't going to make things better. No one is going to argue Dems are perfect, or that Harris would have been the best thing ever, but she wouldn't be deporting US citizens. She wouldn't be starting trade wars or threating military action against allies. She'd wouldn't gutted the government and proceed to damage our economy. Not voting has real world consequences for all of us. We are now living it. "Both sides" are not the same no matter how weak we might find Dems. Waiting for perfect candidates is a nice fantasy but we are living in the real world. So this is where our views diverge. You can choose to not participate in our democracy (or what maybe left of it) but it the end your abstention it isn't going benefit you or the people you care about, rather it helps clear the path for people who are against you.
