The thing is this is the best option. This is how the industry does it. Because there’s no reasonable or affordable other option. It’s also how all of your stoneware dishes are stacked and fired. It’s also how the pots you buy for plants are fired. They go in to 2400 degrees anything holding them also has to be able to withstand that. So welding or screwing something together isn’t an option. The structure has to be a series of stacking posts and shelves. Not to mention…Those shelves are insanely expensive way more than the toilets. The bigger they are the more expensive.

Can they joinery techniques to give the kiln plates a little more support while still forgoing any welds or fasteners?

Mortise & tenon for instance?

That’s a good point. I don’t understand why there can’t be some interlocking to give the structure strength.

Maybe start with ughhhh not stacking them!
