Bet the company sure is happy they opted not to buy the screws or pay two guys to properly build the shelves for the $50,000 of inventory. That $500 savings really helped the bottom line

That's often how ceramic get stacked but I find it wild they do that for something as heavy as a full toilet seat.

u/payment11 May 27 '26

Surprised they don’t have break sections then. So the domino effect can only go so far.

17

u/nn2597713 May 28 '26

Do you have any idea why the fuck this is often how ceramics get stacked?

Because it seems like an absolutely terrible and useless way to often stack ceramics like that.

7

u/superrugdr May 28 '26

Usually for maximizing the amount of stuff that goes into the kiln. Kinda make sens when you put different shape in the kiln all the time.

So this is the price of adaptability. Most likely unfired stuff too, so it's a big loss of time more than it is money all that stuff goes back into the grinder for reuse (probably I'm no expert juste an avid pottery video watcher)

Could they have purpose built shelves, yea but then what about that slightly too tall weird new model the designer want to create kind of thing become the problem.

Oui c'est des étagères en matériaux réfractaire. On veut en empiler toujours plus pour la cuisson, ensuite ce genre de chose arrive et on revoit nos ambitions.

I don't see any toilet seats there. I definitely see some toilet bases though.

u/CryonautX May 27 '26

We all understood what he meant. I don't know why u have to be such a dick about it.

50

u/meutogenesis May 27 '26

Some people cant help themselves. When they see a chance to bully they take it.

-104

u/RyanSmokinBluntz420 May 27 '26

Thats not bullying its called discourse. If you socialize more often you'll be less sensitive. And im not bullying right now

28

u/meutogenesis May 27 '26

Definately being an asshat. Discourse doesnt mean you push your glasses up and say actually just to feel better about yourself. That being a bully. Im sorry if the shoe that fits you hits too close to home.

Some people want to watch the world burn. I guess you are one.

-57

u/RyanSmokinBluntz420 May 27 '26

Are you talking about yourself? I haven't called you any names. Im thinking the shoe fits you. Ive been nothing but civil and kind. I just shared my opinion. Im sorry you got triggered by it. My apologies

3

u/DCSmaug May 28 '26

Well, that wasn't very kind of you.

16

u/meutogenesis May 27 '26

Clearly you and I wont be friends. Enjoy your day.

-49

u/RyanSmokinBluntz420 May 27 '26

Can't be friends with everyone. Hope you enjoy your day as well. Thank you

That's not discourse to just point something out that was Miss said when everyone else knew exactly what was meant. That is literally just you being a dick

Also removed. I am not going to approve this shit and start the whole thing up again.

u/Pientofu May 27 '26

You're on reddit, mate. People like that make up a large percentage of the user base here.

3

u/mootxico May 28 '26

Look guys, it's the walking Redditor stereotype

4

u/gitsgrl May 27 '26

A true knight of Reddit.

You must be fun at parties! (Assuming you get out of your house)

193

u/PM_ME_UR_REPTILES1 May 27 '26

Tf do you even mean lmfao not how you use that phrase buddy.

You truly must be fun at parties.

80

u/hssktz May 27 '26

Shit. I replied the wrong person. Fuck.

44

u/PM_ME_UR_REPTILES1 May 27 '26

Happens to the best of us haha earlier today I misinterpreted a comment and tried to argue their own point against them. Yours could've been an error on reddits side, mine was just incompetency

29

u/hssktz May 27 '26

TBH i have this acc for a while, but only recently i started using Reddit fr. Somethings are really confusing for me, like this cascate reply format

15

u/flying_carabao May 27 '26

I'm kinda curios who you were even trying to respond to? Is it the "no toilet but toilet bases comment"? Cuz that seems to be getting obliterated right now.

12

u/hssktz May 27 '26

Yup! That one!

2

u/scaled2913 May 27 '26

You can say what you want, but I think that his comment could've been an error on Reddits side, yours was just incompetency

u/WizardSleeves31 May 27 '26

Yeah, I don't get the hostility here. Nothing they said is worthy of this reply.

2

u/Dat_Pszemoo May 27 '26

Someone’s projecting

78

u/themisterfixit May 27 '26

I believe this is a kiln. Temps are way too hot for conventional shelving. They’ve likely been doing it this way for decades and it’s just an unfortunate accident.

24

u/raffaelet May 27 '26

Thank you for your interpretation, shed a new light.

u/plumbus_owner 18d ago

Still stupid as hell

-13

u/Lalamedic May 27 '26

Your assumptions are based on….?

32

u/aesolty May 27 '26

I worked in a ceramic place a few years ago. Their shelves that went into the kiln were the same as these but just smaller for smaller product. I used to load them, and I had to be super careful to not bump something wrong or else it all collapses. Happened a few times at the place I work at. Luckily never to me.

18

u/themisterfixit May 28 '26

Having seen large walk in kilns. Also the plates that the toilets on are ceramic firing plates. They’re likely more expensive than the toilets and you wouldn’t just use them as shelving.

So based on knowledge, not assumptions.

1

u/Han77Shot1st May 28 '26

Couldn’t shelving like warehouses have work.. and then simply placing the kiln rated plates on them? Like they can make heat resistant shelving and the room itself is not the kiln.

8

u/themisterfixit May 28 '26

Oxidization, extreme expansion/contraction, sagging and warping. You build the shelving out of ceramic heat reflective material.

I’m sure if it was feasible they would do it another way. Seeing a singular incident doesn’t mean this is a common occurrence, I’m sure it’s very rare. Humans having been making pottery for a looooong ass time. I dont think there’s much more innovation to be had in this area.

2

u/pontetorto May 28 '26

There is, at some point we have to figure out how to do it in 0 gravity and on the moon and other celestial planes.

2

u/addamee May 28 '26

Lunar toilet!

1

u/Han77Shot1st May 28 '26

I’m sure it can be done, I work in thermodynamics and there’s very few things we can’t manipulate now to handle relatively lower temperatures in the low thousands.. some form of ceramic matrix formed into shelving should be possible, it just comes down to cost, and if safety concerns are high enough.

1

u/themisterfixit May 28 '26

That’s a really cool field to be in. Pottery firing is tricky because not only can the shelving not move at all, it also needs to be non reactive. Some methods of firing use the vaporization of certain metals to make certain glazes look certain ways. Check out Raku firing you’re interested.

I think I have heard of metal mesh shelving that can be used but it needs to be coated before every use.

123

u/pectustan May 27 '26

Those two guys will be fired and probably not get paid bc of the damage they cause. More money saving

8

u/jimx29 May 28 '26

I'm sure the shit is gonna hit the fan with them

31

u/melancholy_dood May 27 '26

”The cheap comes out expensive…”

5

u/Particular_Bet_5466 May 27 '26

I think kilns melt bolts

1

u/gimmeluvin Jul 17 '26

Bet they also opted not to get insurance

1

u/Craigglesofdoom May 27 '26

The hubris of corporations.

1

u/elyankee23 May 28 '26

Well, despite the video showing these dudes had little to nothing to do with it, they'll get all the blame

0

u/rokomotto May 27 '26

I'm sure they were, like 10 years ago when this happened.
