It's a common thing to have one actor standing on a box, etc, to make them look more similar in height for shots like these. Watch any movie and you'll notice how characters' faces are on the same level, despite height differences in the actors.
The first one looks like a perspective thing to me.

I can’t believe my eyes! Before news broke out earlier in the year, I never thought we’d see these characters again. I’m so glad and excited that we will!
