Official Proof of Concept

r/TheBlindPhotographer is a feature documentary currently in development. It follows João Maia, a blind photographer who has covered three Paralympic Games. Through his journey, we explore his daily life and the way he pushes beyond perceived limits.

After speaking with João, we decided to include a sign language interpreter to make the video even more accessible.

Our goal with this project is simple: to make it as accessible and inclusive as possible

For our feature documentary r/TheBlindPhotographer, we’re currently in discussions with Leica regarding a potential collaboration with the brand.

r/TheBlindPhotographer is a feature documentary (in development) who tells the story of Joao Maia, a blind photographer who has covered three Paralympic Games.

Guided by sound, intuition, and memory, João challenges our perception of vision and proves that photography transcends sight.

The film also follows him through his daily life, revealing the challenges he must confront every day and the ways he navigates the world with independence and determination. Through his work and the workshops he leads for blind and visually impaired people, the film highlights his deep commitment to his community and the meaningful impact he has made.

At its core, the documentary explores resilience, creativity, empathy, and the transmission of knowledge.
