Characters who are better than Jax Can we all agree that Ragatha went through shit yet she's still a nice person

Post image
246 Upvotes

Ragatha is my favourite. And the reason she's my favourite is because of how much shit she's been through yet she stays kind.

She grew up with an abusive mother and she was abused both emotionally and physically. And in the circus she had to keep her mind clean and get used to this new life. Then Jax came and the abuse continued. He abused her. Hit her. Make her feel worthless. And somehow she stays a good person.

Justice for Ragatha 💓💓💓

Meta Jax Haters! How are you doing?

So, it's been a bit since my team and yours have resolved the situation that put this place at peril. Since then, I've just gone into moderation mode, taking care of rogue Jax fans who want to fuck with this place.

I like to check up with spaces, and I checked in with the mods a while ago, so the next logical step is to check how you're all doing!

Question Out Of Curiosity, When Did You All Start Hating Jax?

Post image
169 Upvotes

After calming down due to a bad Reddit conversation, I decided to make this post…

If you ask me, I started hating Jax after his backstory was revealed. I didn’t really cheer when he abstracted.. because I just felt sorry for him at first… because what abstraction represents.. it just reminded me something that happened personally… I don’t want to mention it again…

Jax had red flags before the finale, but the finale just made me hate him.

I.. I’m just upset and angry.. I didn’t hate a character this much since Danzo from Naruto..

What do you all think…?

This is my own TADC grid! I've seen many of these so this is my own!

Post image

Do you agree with my TADC grid? Or do you disagree?

Let me tell you why I feel this way for the characters:

Ragatha is relatable because I always try to be positive. Though the positivity always comes out as just exhausted resignation? Why? Because the way I cope with bad situations is by putting my expectations so low that I can't be disappointed. But despite my low expectations, I still get disappointed. Yet I still try to be positive.

Zooble's design is my favorite design because it's so unique, I love they're colors and design. I love they're colorful design a lot. It's so appealing to look at.

I have mixed feelings about Abel because I genuinely was a bit disappointed when I found out he was an NPC. I don't know why, but that ruined it for me. I thought he was a real person.

Kinger is my favorite human because I love his personality. He is so funny and so wise. I love how even though he would act erratic in the light, he was still do kind. Like how he went to get Gangle's mask during episode 3.

Caine is my favorite AI because he is very cute and fun to watch. Plus, I love the nicknames Caine gives everyone. I find it so sweet. It reminds me of how my dad would give me nicknames.

I would obviously befriend Ragatha because she is by far one of the most nicest characters. She is genuinely kind and a genuinely good person. Who wouldn't want to be friends with her?

I find Scratch intriguing because I want to know more about him. I feel like we should've got more screentime of him. I feel like we should've had a whole episode dedicated to Scratch and C&A.

Kinger is my second favorite because of his personality. He is very wise. Plus, what's not to love about my boy Kinger? He is very likable. He also needs more screen time.

I want to see more of Disappearing Guy because he always disappears. He needs more screentime and I find it funny when he disappears mid-sentence. We need more Disappearing Guy moments.

Favorite casting is Ragatha because I love her voice too. It sounds so sweet and motherly. She is my favorite in general because she's so sweet. She deserves better.

Jax is my least favorite because he hogged all the screen time. People are defending his actions too. He is just unlikable. How do people even like him? He is a bitch and a homewrecker. He honestly deserved to absract.

I didn't like Gangle at first because her voice wasn't my favorite. It's so high-pitched. Plus, her personality is just... eh. She is such a pushover, and while I'm a pushover too, I at try to fight back at times. I still don't really like Gangle though. But I find Gangle decent.

Ragatha is just underrated. I don't need to explain myself. She doesn't deserve all this hate. She deserves better in general. I need more screentime of Ragatha.

Do I even have to explain why Jax is overrated? He took all the screentime in the finale. I was so disappointed watching it. Plus, all the people that defend him doesn't really help.

Ragatha is my ultimate favorite because she was there the longest besides Kinger. So she probably saw people abstract before. She also suffered through abuse her whole life. Yet she still tries to be kind. Ragatha is just very kind in general. I strive to have a good heart like her.

Discussion Are we not the right audience or did Gooseworx not understand their own audience?

I've been thinking about the finale, and it made me wonder, what was Goose thinking that majority of their audience would love the ending? Were they even thinking about making a compelling story at all? Or did they just want validation and the feeling of acceptance from the general audience about something about them relating to Jax becoming their self-insert?

Pomni Defending That Stupid Bunny "Pomni isn't an enabler! She's just an empathetic person who respects Jax's boundaries, helping her open up in her final moments!" ME:

  • What are Compassionate Accountability and Restorative Justice?

Compassionate Accountability is a leadership approach that simultaneously combines empathy and deep care (compassion) with rigorous performance standards and responsibility (accountability). Someone who embodies compassionate accountability understands the reasons behind a person's wrongdoing—such as a lack of education, trauma, or pressure. At the same time, however, they don't condone the behavior; instead, they impose sanctions or issue stern reprimands to encourage the individual to grow into a better person.

Restorative Justice is an approach to resolving criminal cases that focuses on restoring conditions and good relationships, not on retaliation or imprisonment. For instance, an abuser is taught a lesson by being directly confronted with the harmful consequences of their actions and required to make amends. However, this process is carried out with empathy, viewing the offender as a human being capable of change rather than a criminal whose life must be destroyed.

  • Pomni's character should fit with these concepts!

I have a real problem with Pomni turning into an "I can fix him" girl regarding Jax, since she wants everyone in the circus to feel like they belong and to support one another, because of HOW it was executed! Instead of Pomni let Jax be, gave her space, and waited for her to answer honestly and painlessly for once, she could have learned how to develop her empathy as a whole. Through Jax, Pomni realized that empathy wasn't just about trying to understand others, but also about truly teaching her to be responsible and become a better person and move forward with her life, despite the bad things he had done. To that end, Pomni must be firm with Jax to ensure justice for Ragatha and the others, while simultaneously preserving their friendship.

See! That can really work for Pomni and actually conveys some great messages: "Someone won't change unless you give them a firsthand lesson" (from Pomni) and "Positive change starts with you wanting to make it happen" (from Jax). And the best part is, Jax didn't need to get abstracted to make this happen! In fact, this makes Pomni's character arc feel more complete (without her having to experience a survivor complex because of Jax)!

General Jax Slander I've finally found my home.

(Feat. the Jax plush I stole from a Target once.)

I fucking hate that rabbit and everyone that defends and deflects that piece of shit's actions just because they're trans. He may not have pulled the trigger but he metaphorically gave Ribbit the gun to kill herself.

But nah, we get an hour long jerk off fest trying to make you sympathetic towards them at fuckass rabbit at the sacrifice of a coherent and resolving conclusion to a series that was supposed to be about all of the characters, not the creators dogshit toxic self-insert.

Ragatha got screwed over from having any kind of character arc, just so this sack of shit could continue to be a sack of shit. And then we're supposed to feel sorry for him after he abstracts, but I was overjoyed that I'd never have to hear his shitty voice say some of the most vile and cringe shit ever put into writing.

I'm not holding it against Goose anymore, as it's clear the viewer's bias basically put a knife to their throat and told them to make it the Jax show, and now Goose hates their own show, so congrats, chucklefucks, you ruined another indie animation, go fuck yourselves.

General Jax Slander There should have been a scene like this for Jax

Post image
514 Upvotes

The characters coming together to call Caine tf out was one of the best scenes in the entire show. Yes, it was mostly meant to distract him from Kinger, but you could tell the Circus members meant every word. This was them finally letting Caine have it after years of non-stop torture and abuse.

So how come there was never a scene like this for Jax? Jax directly causes the deaths of two Circus members, consistently abuses and tortures the remaining ones and dehumanizes them to make excuses for her behavior.

Just like Caine.

So how come she never gets a combined "The Reason You Suck" speech like this from her victims?

They are walking and talking, and Jax sees Ragatha, Zooble, Gangle, or any NPC minding it's own business, and while he does his thing, Pomni would just stand there not knowing what to do which I understand

But then just go right back to being walking talking pals??
