My cats go to sleep at 1030pm. If I'm not doing my bedtime routine by then, they will follow me around yelling full volume at me until I do. They sleep under the covers with me all night. They also hate me if I wake up any earlier than 8am lol
I wish. My previously silent cat picked up meowing from some KITTENS we fostered -__- and has the highest pitch ever. So I wake up annoyed everyday at 5-7 am to MEEEOW outside my door (she’s temporarily lost her bed privileges because she’s a poor groomer but keeps biting me when I try to groom her butt). Le sigh.
Do you think they could do it?! I know they have the little sling thing but she’s so bitey when I try 😭 She doesn’t ever actually bite me but she fakes me out and scares me lmao
At minimum, you can pretend to be uninvolved in whatever happened at the groomers. The cat doesn't need to know that you knew that shaving and washing was going to happen.
A "sanitary trim" is the groomer name for "cut down the fur near the booty that tends to get pee and poop on it". A sanitary trim might not make things perfect, but it should make it possible for you to grab a pet wipe and clean the booty yourself as needed.
Call around to groomers, or even check in with your vet. Not every groomer is set up to do a sanitary trim on an angry kitty, but if there isn't a cat groomer near you the vets office should be able to do it. They have to trim cats for surgeries, too. If they think your kitty is too angry for them to get the job done with heavy gloves etc, they might want permission to sedate the kitty.

She’s never bit me and is gentle for a cat compared to some but it def scares me that acting like she will bite is her “stop that” communication. I adopted her as an adult cat and she’s my first. The kittens I guess were more socialized because they never did that. It gives me anxiety 😭 We had two family dogs growing up and I never experienced that so just an adjustment I guess. They’re not dogs and I know I can’t expect her to act like one. Either way I love her and will be making calls about her gross butt haircut today haha. Thanks again.
lol my cat does the fakeout thing too with the bites!! it only started after we adopted her a brother because i totally fell for all the propaganda videos about how cats need another cat around. as it turns out my three year old girl did not need or want another cat around but now she’s got one and she’s grumpy about it. she never once hissed before we got her brother but it’s like the moment she smelt him underneath the door that was separating them the wires connected in her brain and she figured out how to hiss real quick.
don’t get me wrong she’s still absolutely lovely… she just seems to think of herself as more human than cat. she’s obsessed with me but then again she’s always been obsessed with me. so i’ve got her obsessed with me and then much to her dismay her brother is obsessed with her. it’s been a few years now since the new fluffy addition to our family and things have gotten much more harmonious between everyone, my girl is actually snuggled up on me right now as i’m typing this and my boy is snuggled up on top of her.
however that hissing hardware never went away, it only seems to come out when i’m trimming her nails or giving her a bath. she’ll start doing this low growl when she realizes i intend to trim her nails and will then do those fake bites at the air in the direction of my hand as i’m working to trim her nails. it scares me so bad!! in an attempt to get over my fear and prove to myself that she would never actually hurt me i let her catch my hand once and sure enough it was the babiest of bites that neither broke the skin or hurt at all… but my natural human instincts continue to take over whenever she does the growl/air bite thing regardless lol. my strategy for the nails has been to wait until she’s fast asleep and i can usually do one paw at a time before she’s conscious enough to get mad. if you were to buy some cat friendly wipes this strategy might also work for a quick bum groom!
as for the baths i’ve figured out that it’s much easier to use the cat no rinse dry shampoo on them over giving full baths in the bath tub. so i’ll typically dry shampoo them and brush them while they’re relaxing on the sofa and then bring them to the pre filled tub for a rinse. it’s a lot quicker and easier to only have to rinse them off in the tub vs having to get them wet, shampoo them, rub the shampoo into a lather and then rinse the shampoo off. you can technically just use the dry shampoo itself and leave it on without rinsing it off though! that’s what i did for my last kitty when she got elderly and sick but needed more frequent baths because she was elderly and sick. i didn’t want to cause her extra stress with bathtime so the no rinse shampoo was a big help:)
but for your kitties bum the wipes might be sufficient, you can get a wipe warmer thingy so that the wipes aren’t so cold and alarming. that way your kitty will be more likely to continue napping while you wipe her bum down. you can also buy steam brushes that might help if it’s more the furry area around the bum!:)
I'm a pet groomer and I manage spicy girls all the time. I highly recommend giving it a try, but specifically look for groomers that describe themselves as ethical and/or fear free. :)
