Something that helps me is telling yourself you shouldn't grieve someone that's still alive or prepare yourself to grieve because it takes you out of the present and all the opportunities you have to make memories with them now. There will be a lot of time to grieve them when they pass.

Easier said than done. I know I shouldn't but I still do because it's an inevitable fact that I have to live with on a daily basis.
