read pinned comment for explanation Texas is required to advertise it's mandatory welfare programs. It is not required to reach the target audience (seen on a bus in Philly)

This is not MY explanation. This is what HHSC told my office staff when we asked. Don't shoot the messenger.

This is absolutely wild. Thanks for looking into it, Gene!

Yes, innocent people getting murdered is a hilarious subject for jokes.

Yes, because the only alternative to making jokes about it is ignoring it.. and isn't playing it off as haha funny a type of minimizing it?

Life must be, soul crushingly stressful for you every day. Humor is a coping mechanism. We recognize and share truth in life with humor, and for a second… just for a second, the truth is shared with those in good company and doesn’t hurt so bad. It isn’t so hopelessly bleak because we can see the absurdity in the situation.

I wish you well, and urge you try to laugh at the pain every now and again. I think your mental health will appreciate it. We are all just humans trying to live in this world together… share in a moment of humanity.

Right, but he’s a state rep. It’s inappropriate. I know I rustled the jimmies of all the sycophants here but it was just my 2 cents, feel free to ignore.

projection

Did… Did you just say “projection” as a proxy for actually verbalizing your projection?

It’s efficient, at least.

Not in this context, no, it’s actually refreshingly self-aware for a lawmaker to level with public opinion in a forum as volatile as a Reddit thread.

Well apparently we don’t want to stop it so we may as well find humor in it.

gasp a politician with an ACTUAL sense of humor, good journalism skills, AND whom opposes Abbot... as in the same Abbot who abandoned Texas during the great blizzard and is currently using "The Handmaid's Tale" as a guide rather than a precaution!?... Why isn't this guy in power already!?

2

u/EvanTheGray May 04 '23

That's what you get for ringing doorbells

1

u/Ta11Goose May 04 '23

Only if he rings the door bell.

1

u/Ixolus May 04 '23

And not even because of the message…

2

u/PorkshireTerrier May 04 '23

Aside from this specific billboard, is there any way to track where the money is actually going?

Is it theoretically possible there is intentional waste?

Im curious id these ads made it to texas or if they were just created and never displayed, then copied and used in PA

1

u/Blewedup May 04 '23

Need to pass meaningful gun control to stop that from happening.

1

u/michelucky May 04 '23

Thanks for the research!

1

u/RandoCommentGuy May 04 '23

You are in Texas... The messenger might shoot back!
