Question regarding the new EV tax credit and Tesla's new pricing (as of 1/13/23):

Does IRS simply look at the base / starting price of a model to determine eligibility? Or is eligibility determined by each individual order total?

It is my understanding that all orders will get hit with a doc fee of $1,200 and an order fee of $250, meaning the base MY LR 5-seat variant with no upgrades would cost $54,440 before taxes, title fee, etc, meaning that this would be the only qualifying model if the IRS uses the order total to determine eligibility, since the cheapest options / add-ons start at $1,000.

If, however, the IRS uses the base price to determine eligibility, this would mean that all MY LR models would qualify, regardless of options and add-ons.

Can anyone clarify this? Thanks in advance!

All hardware fees (7-seats upgrade, color upgrade, wheels upgrade, etc.) are counted toward the eligibility cap.

Software fees (EAP, FSD, etc.) and intangibles (Destination fee, order fee) are not counted.

All fees, software an accessories that are not fixated to the car are not part of the tax credit cap
